This place is simply brilliant, after watching the movie "bottle shock" we simply had to try it and am so glad we did. It was the best tasting of the day. The wine was the best in the valley, the staff matched the experience, the winery itself is breathtaking. Please do not miss this

We couldn't help but stop once again for our third visit at the Castello (same as "chateau"). Our first visits were equally pleasant. The weather did not permit us to take another tour of the grounds, unfortunately. Since we had been here before, we preferred to select our own tasting flight. Their red wine line is a perfect match for... More

I planned a trip with friends to Napa Valley and picked the wineries very carefully. Chateau Montelena was very high on my list for its history and wine. What we got was arrogance and indifference. Their approach is to say why they are great and tell you how much you don't know. Not only did they leave a negative feeling,... More

Very good tasting at the Chateau. The wines were above average and, the property was very well kept. The staff was very engaging with us. Would recommend for anyone.

This was our first stop. I had seen Bottle Shock several times and wanted to go. The property will be recognizable in parts from the movie but mostly from the vine covered building. The property is actually more like a Japanese garden with a small bridge, a pagoda, swans, geese, and beautiful plants and trees. We were there in the... More

Chateau Montelena was one of the highlights of my first visit to Napa. The building and grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The wines are really good as well. I purchased the winter in the wineries passport, and this was one of the wineries that participated in it. I tasted 5 wines, all of which were really good. One of the benefits... More

Sorry, I don't drink wine (or any alcohol); yet I had great fun. It was cold December, I was traveling solo; yet I had great fun. I am a fan of the movie Bottle Shock. You will enjoy this place more if you watch the movie first. The Japanese pavilion and lively ducks definitely added to the experience.
