Conceived in a basement overlooking Moonstone Beach (yes, hillside basements in Cambria can have nice views), Todd Clift and his dad, Muril, began making wine in 1998. The hobby quickly got out of control, and blossomed into a full time passion. Todd chucked his corporate job to become an apprentice at local winery, just six miles south of Cambria. Under the tutelage of a 21-year winemaker who has won over 500 awards, he worked through four crush seasons before releasing his first vintages. Todd proudly crafts his wines from Central Coast grapes. Moonstone Cellars offers a wide range of varietals from a light and crisp Sauvignon Blanc to an off-dry Gewurztraminer; a supple Grenache to a full bodied Petite Sirah. Come visit us at our tasting room in in the West Village of Cambria (just blocks from the original hillside basement). We are open daily from 11 to 5.

We spent a nice 30 minutes in the tasting room tasting a nice variety of reds and whites. The staff were very friendly and our 5 year old was welcome to sit at the bar with us. He said the wine smelled like vinegar! Haha

We visited Moonstone while in Cambria based on other reviews. The service was very good. We bought the Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon which we enjoyed. The other wines were good, but did not "wow" us.
