Very crowded with no place for crowds to go. Church is nothing special. View of lake is decent but nothing amazing. If you decide to go just block off a quick twenty minute visit. Not much more needed.

Israel is usually super-safe. Just consider that January can be cold, especially in the north. The distance you intend to cover is quite short and there are plenty of people doing same. So eventually you do not feel safe enough when in Tabgha, then follow a larger group. In my opinion the experience of Holy Land is so intense that should be shared.
