    Nice to see
We visited Olympos for one day. We were accommodated in Kyra Panagia beach, from where we traveled to Olympos for about an hour. In some places, the road is strewn with stones that fall from the surrounding hills. People in the village welcome you with smiling faces. They are dressed in typical clothes, the village is cute, worth a visit and a walk through it. Behind the church, the path leads to an old windmill, where you can buy pastries in the local bakery, or at the end of the path, rest and have something to eat in the Milosh tavern. A lady in one of the houses at the beginning of the Village, draws beautiful pictures and paints porcelain, both of which you can buy as souvenirs at a normal price. Beautiful to see, life in the village is as if time has stood still.

A unique village in a breathtaking setting
A beautiful and picturesque village, hanging over the cliff. Old homes, women still dressed with traditional costumes, small winding streets full of stores , bars and restaurants, but low key and no loud music! Definitely worthwhile the one hour of driving in winding but paved road. Park outside the village since no cars are allowed in the narrow streets. Enjoy the vistas, spent time taking to people and support the local economy with purchases of handicrafts, local food products and souvenirs.

Historic village, some crafts and art, small streets, small restaurants
Lovely old village on Karpathos. No cars allowed in this mountainvillage where they still live in the old ways. We found it a bit touristic, but had a great lunch in one of the small restaurants there.

This is a review of the village not a specific excursion.
We arrived by car and its a long winding coastal road from the south full of fallen debris so take care.
Olympos itself looks beautiful, like many of the hill side villages on the island. That's almost where the pleasure ends as the moment you step in the village you are bombarded from both sides in the narrow walkways by shop owners and restaurateurs trying to drag you in...without exception. First few shops they jumped on my daughter and dressed her with headscarves not for a cultural reason but to sell them, she felt quite intimidated.
On the positive side the view is as beautiful as the many other cliff side villages and if you follow the bakery sign you can have a freshly made pie or two for a lighter lunch.
Personall i wouldnt have gone if i had realised how it would be as it is not like this anywhere else on this charming island. Its a long way for this touristic market experience.

The place is beautifully situated in the north of the island but unfortunately also very touristy. If possible, you should rent a car and drive there on your own and come and go at times when the excursion boats that dock in Diafani have not yet reached the place or have already left - then you have peace and quiet and can look around the place.
