Driving along the main drag, gives you a glimpse into some of the original architecture. Also surprising was that some of the homes a few blocks from the ocean have built rooftop patios so they can enjoy the view of the ocean and sunsets. I wondered about zoning regulations or lack thereof.

We were visting Legoland for one day and made a dash here after closing to catch the sunset on the beach. We rented bikes and rode to the beach, which was maybe a 7 min ride with traffic crosswalks. If you are staying nearby, this is a cute and quiet few blocks to eat and shop.

Everything from restaurants to wine shops to chocolate shop. Wednesdays' Famer's Market from 3 pm to 6pm (hours vary depending on season, they have a website/Facebook) is right in the "village" street.

This is a little gem. Great village to walk around and grab a drink and chill out.. There are more Italian restaurants here than any other city I have been in except Italy. You can throw a rock and hit 2-3 hair salons.Great beaches...I can't say enough. :)

Carlsbad is so amazing, Miles of magnificent beaches, restaurants, activities, legoland for the younger, a hop to Disneyland, or Seaworld. LA, and San Diego a short distance, and you have THE pre-eminent vacation destination in Southern California. You'll wish you came here, so why bother with the rest? Get where you really want to be first.

Put in a sunny day with crisp cool air. Plenty of parking and little small shops. Makes a perfect seaside stop. Italian restaurant was good as was the coffee place.

Carlsbad is technically city but the village centre is wonderful. A couple of minutes walk from a stunning beach, with a great array of restaurants and cafes, some lovely book shops and gift shops, friendly people, and peace and quiet. Thoroughly recommended if you're in the San Diego area and want a day out. Carlsbad has a very homely feel,... More
