Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you want ocean, upscale galleries and shopping in high end style this is amazing. Beats everwhere in bel.air ,bests newpprt hands down. Excellent dinning. Ocean at rhe end of this higj rent street. There are several streets full to spend a day or week.
No hot dogs or can beer here. But if u want the best its here. Homes and cottages also great if u like history and design. Not for casual not for budget folks. Not a bar scene. Is high class and romantic. Almost dream like ... a must see 5 star place.

Ocean Avenue is the primary street through the main tourist area of Carmel. It runs a little over a half mile from Carmel Plaza down to the Carmel Sunset Beach viewing area. The elevation change is a little under 180 feet and a roundtrip walk will take about 30 to 40 minutes. Along the way you will walk past restaurants, tourist shops, real estate shops, rental units and inns, clothing boutiques and snack stores (bakery, candy shop, coffee shop…)
It is relatively easy and enjoyable to stroll towards the Pacific Ocean and back unless you have knee or back problems…. A great way to spend a few hours.

Ocean Avenue is the main street of Carmel. At the very top are some residences then you enter the shopping district and eventually you end at the beach. Ocean Avenue is busy every day of the week between locals and tourists so parking can be tough.

Do park and get out and stroll down one side and up the other. The side streets also contain shops and galleries. Visit art galleries and expensive clothing stores. There are restaurants,

Ocean Avenue is a quaint picturesque place lined with unique shops and restaurants.

Don’t forget to check out the adjacent street as there are more shops and restaurants.

Parking is free in the surrounding roads.

The houses are amazing and so varied.

Good for a mornings stroll.

As beautiful as I remember you it. Lovely walk down stores and restaurants. We ate at one of the restaurants that offered outdoor seating with heaters. Nice, festive atmosphere.

This a very scenic drive...on one side you have the spectacular coastline and on the other side you have both stunningly elaborate as well as simple bungalow style residences. It was a really fun drive!

One of the best ways to see the heart of Carmel. Grab one of the free maps of the downtown area and start walking. Ocean Avenue is packed with small shops, coffee shops and restaurants. Check out the many small alleyways as there are many more hidden shops. Also, walk the side streets as many more places to visit are a block or two off of Ocean Avenue.

Ocean Avenue is great walking and looking. There are homes, buildings and shops to be enjoyed. We walked this street a few times that would have been more if the hill had been less steep.
