We drove around the lake and stopped at few spots to go for a hike. It was beautiful. There are plenty of paths. We noticed a lot of red ants so Beware when you are off the path.

Not natural, but lovely none the less. Fishing, swimming boating (motor and not), camping, hiking all right there. Chester is a nice, small town with a few good restaurants, a grocery store, gas stations. Very family oriented.

The lake is huge and provides interesting drive around it with views of Lassen Peak. Some homes were million dollars some were RV and crowded. Very limited dining options. The town if Chester small and cute but it offered very limited things to do.

I have been in love with this area X 30 years...Beautiful mountains, clean air, the drinking water is pure from the tap, great hiking, boating... I love that this place is uncrowded as the Tahoe area has become! A gem, great getaway and friendly people...

Nice tree lined lake. Stayed at the North Shore Campground and kayaked right out of our campsite. Saw geese and ducks and lots of scenery.

I love big lakes so I stopped near the dam in order to enjoy the view. It was beautiful with the snow capped mountains behind the lake.

4590 feet is the standard lake elevation. The lake can rise to 4600 feet at which point water will enter the spill way.
