Visiting my sister and decided to drive to the top. It’s a road with lots of curves to the top and there are lots of cyclists (you go cuz I couldn’t do those hills) to watch out for. Once you get close to the summit, they don’t allow cars so you have to park and walk up. Quite a steep hill but just do it and you will be rewarded with great views. We didn’t have time to do any hiking but maybe another day. Everything is brown so it probably is prettier in later months. Definitely worth the $10 admission fee…

We went to Mount Diablo State Park. This is an awesome state park. One drives up the scenic rod to the top. One can get amazing views of the bay area and beyond when one reaches the top.

Took a day trip up to this park with friends. The views on each of the roads was amazing. It wasn’t green. The ground grasses are all dead and yellow, but still provides some nice scenery. The tall trees are beautiful and green. The campsites are nice and the day use sites are too. Our kids had hammocks that they easily found spots to set up. The largest pine cones I’ve ever seen are spread all over the ground. Be careful if you don’t want to stay the night, it is said they lock the gates when the sun goes down. We didn’t get locked in, so I can’t verify this, but we didn’t take any chances either. …

Mt. Diablo is a large park with rolling hills and spectacular vistas. We drove to the top, picnicking half way up. There are plenty of trails for hiking and lots of very fit bicyclists on the road. Highly recommended if you want to go to a beautiful place close to Oakland.

Easy access by road or trail to great views and easy trails around the peak. Family friendly and easy to get to. The trip to the summit is almost as beautiful as the summit itself. Once at the peak there are amazing 360 degree views.
