What travellers are saying
- Dave OMadison, WI6 contributionsWe went over for an evening. Had dinner and went to Hotel de Coronado. The hotel was beautiful and decorated well for Christmas. I know there is an ice rink there during Christmas time but we couldn't find it. It is a big property and there were a lot of people so it was hard to move around. But the Coronado Island experience was a great one and a must go when in San Diego.Written 2 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AroundTheWorldIn80kDaysBangkok, Thailand301 contributionsOne of my favorite beaches in the world. It's big, beautiful, westward facing (for sunsets), clean, well life-guarded, not too crowded, and accessible to Hotel Del Coronado amenities and the restaurants of Orange Avenue. There's a reason why the houses nearby are some of the most expensive in the world. I hope to afford one some day.Written 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Julia Y16 contributionsThis was on my to-do list because it was affordable and smart. We parked in Coronado and took the ferry to the Broadway Pier. We walked all the way down to the Children's Museum and Gaslamp to eat. We got back on by the Convention center and headed back to Coronado. Yes we walked a lot, but had no stress finding and paying for parking everywhere we went. The views were spectacular and the boat was not crowded at all.Written 5 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cynthia K8 contributionsIf you are looking for an enjoyable night of live theater, Lamb's Players current production, Jane, is just the ticket! From start to finish you will be transported to another time and place and be thoroughly entertained. This is a not-to-be-missed show!!Written 20 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Asking A3 contributionsWent on Labor Day. Easy parking the beach was pretty crowded and a lot of dogs. All playing and well behaved. We have a 7 month old doodle who went for the -st time. She was so happy, jumping around like a kangaroo! We had a blast. No bathrooms. Doggie shower at beginning of pathway to the portion of dog beach. If it wasn’t a holiday, the planes flying overhead are awesome!Written 4 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lawrence C2 contributionsVery shady, peaceful area with clean, cozy bathroom facilities and faucets. Perfect for just strolling, picnics, or just relaxing. I parked here and used this area as a base for my walking tour of the nearby restaurants (where I had a nice salad & almond milk latte). Beautiful area and very friendly people!Written 10 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- on_the_go_98765Tucson18,350 contributionsThis is a win-win in every respect. We never miss an opportunity to stop at the "Second Hand Prose" resale book-shop around the corner from the library but the library itself is a fantastic museum/time capsule with some very special exhibits and historical documents.
This time around, we spent time looking at the miniature rooms exhibit and made our way into the historical Spreckels Reading Room. This beautiful building circa 1909 is a community treasure. It is hard to imagine finding a more exceptionally wonderful library.Written 9 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It will always hold a special place in our heart, especially since she said "Yes!"Written 12 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yvonne C21 contributionsWhat can I say! It’s a parking lot for RVs & travel trailers. But you’re right on the beach. You must be a self contained RV or travel trailer. The restrooms and shower facilities are closed and locked at 7:00pm. That includes the main gate. Yes that means no entry or exit between the hours of 7:00pm and 7:00am. But you’re right on the beach. The showers require tokens. For a $1.00 you get 2 tokens. One token gives you 2 minutes of shower time. There is an extra fee for parking in the beach row. And the sunsets are awesome! Did I say you’re right on the beach!Written 19 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - on_the_go_98765Tucson18,350 contributionsAlthough the park marquee calls this "Mathewson Park" I believe we all know it as Coronado Tidelands Park. While we walked the route, families were enjoying the warm weather in this beautiful setting. Bubbles were being blown, children were enjoying the park equipment all under the eye of watchful adults.
The setting could not possibly be more ideal. The views of the bridge, the cross-bay view of San Diego, and the ambience in general made this a prize of a park.Written 9 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was touching to see all the names of the Navy and US Coast Guard servicemen (and women) lost at war. Definitely a must see in the San Diego/Coronado area. (And TRULY a hidden gem!!!)
The other reviewers are correct that it is a small monument, but amazing, nonetheless. In addition to the wall, there is also a small monument (similar to a mini version of the Washington Monument), there are also 3 boats that were actually part of the part of the war!
Tips: Plan your visit in advance (www.VUMMF.com) because you will need an escort to take you! Please, please be mindful when submitting your request as the escorts are mainly retired Veterans who dedicate their own time and energy to making the tours possible. (They are also the same Veterans that work HARD at upkeeping and maintaining the Memorial. Thank you for your continued service!)Written 25 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
