About
Project Survival's Cat Haven is open to the public and is an innovative park dedicated to the preservation of wild cats. It specializes in education and is engaged in both captive and range country conservation. It is this link to the conservation of cats in their native habitat which makes the work of the Cat Haven especially meaningful. While some of the cats at Project Survival have been orphaned in the wild or have needed to be re-homed due to varying circumstances, we do not call ourselves a sanctuary. We provide excellent homes for all of our cats but our focus is to educate people about the plight of endangered cat species, and to raise funds for the conservation projects in the wild. Working to mitigate problems between cats and people in the wild, these projects are vital to protecting and conserving these beautiful animals. Project Survival is a 501 c 3 non profit organization.

Happy Surprise
Apr 2021
Tucked up and away from the road. Much bigger than I expected. Friendly staff, gift shop and guided tours. $15 a person and about 25 cats to see. Must do it at least once.

Must Go
Jan 2021
We absolutely LOVE all that they do at Cat Haven. The educated support staff, and everyone you encounter are wonderful. The down to earth friendly environment is also very inviting. We learned so much on their tours about CATS.

We also LOVE to donate to this wonderful non profit. Conservation of exotic and endangered cats.

Good stop for big cat fans!
Jan 2021
Their highway sign pulled me in and I was quite pleased with my decision after visiting. A large and quite varied collection that is well cared for by knowledgeable staff. All visitors must take the guided tour to see the cats.

Amazing place to see cheetahs, lions, tigers, and more!
Jan 2020
I discovered this place while googling "hang out with cheetahs". Right there on their website, it said that I could “walk with their cheetahs.” I called them up and confirmed if this was true. “It says on your website that I can WALK WITH A CHEETAH. Are you sure that I can actually walk NEXT to an ACTUAL cheetah?” They said yes and I drove up there that weekend to do the “Walk with a Cheetah” experience. It was amazing and I have since become obsessed with this place.

I have gone back several times since (wish they were closer to Los Angeles!) and just really, really love this place. The cats (big and small!) live a great life there. They receive healthy food, proper healthcare, and plenty of enrichment activities. The owners, Wendy and Dale, and the keepers really love the animals. That is evident every time I go there or watch their facebook live videos. I highly encourage anyone who loves big cats to visit this place!

A wonderful Cat Zoo.
Dec 2019 • Family
We took this tour in at about 11:30 on a Thursday morning in December of 2019. It was our second time here. 9 years ago it was not a guided tour. Having both now, we did very much enjoy the guided tour. They give lots of info on all the kinds of cats there. Leopards are their main cat but the also have many other kinds including the Cheetah, Lion, mountain lion, tiger, bobcats and more. The tour is about 1 1/4 hours long up and down some dirt paths. Not recommended for wheel chairs, as it is too steep at places. Though they will give u a ride in a golf cart if needed. They do have hand rails along some of the steep areas. Nice large pens for all the cats. Wonderful staff. Recommended place to spend a morning or afternoon. Nice gift shop as well.

Great experience
Jun 2019
I was skeptical of going to the cat haven when my family recommended it but I had a great time. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw some great big cats and learned a lot. I recommend this to anyone. We also ate at this little place just west of there called Genas Sierra Inn - really good food in a quirky local restaurant - it doesn’t look like a good place to stop but it is a nice place. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Great place, too much fund solicitation
Dec 2019 • Family
This is a great place with wonderful sights/animals available (I've been to many similar but the best assortment of cats here). I was disappointed in the required guide rules. It started with a 20 minute "commercial" about the establishment, stressing how we can donate funds & to who. Our advertised 1 hour tour was 1 he 45 minutes and with small children, pausing at each cage for a 15-20 minute talk was too much.

Might be fine with older kids, but not for small children.

Unexpected surprise
Sep 2019 • Friends
While traveling to Sequoia my daughter and I saw the sign for Cat Haven. On our return we stopped in and took the tour. Two delightful ladies, one from Belgium gave us a very informative tour. It was very well done and most enjoyable. At the end we happened to see the founder interacting with one of his big cats. We highly recommended it to anyone.

Beautiful cats!
Sep 2019 • Solo
Went here with my 83 year old mom. The terrain is uneven and, in some places very steep, but she had no problem navigating the quarter-mile path. There are railings to hold in the steep places. It took us about an hour for the guided tour. The many cats were so beautiful with clean shiny coats, generally healthy-looking (though I’m certainly not a wildlife biologist). They were fascinating to watch and recognize the behaviors they share with our kitties back home (even purring)! The guides were very knowledgeable, and this organization does a lot for big cat conservation all over the world. Well worth the small $15 entry fee (was only $12 for mom)!

Big cats, small cages
Sep 2019 • Couples
I was told by our tour guide Andrew these cats are not rescues, they are just kept there. Not sure what this really means. So sad to see these big cats in small cages. Yes they are better off than with the circus but you could give them more space and a better habitat that they would naturally live in. More trees and grassy areas.
