Local history is featured here with different themes shown in continually changing exhibits. Native American baskets, regalia and related items from local tribes, Victorian era clothing, local historic events (the Chinese expulsion from the city, the 1964 Flood for example) - it's actually quite a remarkable museum. Located in the former Bank of Eureka building in Old Town.

The tour guide was very nice, knowledgeable, helpful. You go at your own pace, and there aren't many people there, so you can see all that they have.

The Clarke Museum contains a broad collection of artifacts related to Eureka as well as every small town in the US and Canada. They also have a fabulous collecton of Indian baskets that are well displayed and explained.

This museum is located in Old Town. It is $5 donation for adults. The museum is not large. It tells of history of Eureka, logging, WWII, and the Indians and Chinese that were in the area. There are also displays of baskets hand made by Indians, rocks for the geology fans and also several stuffed birds for the ornithology fans.... More

Spent a couple hours learning about the Eureka area. They don't charge admission but dew accept donations. Even the location is part of there history. The old bank. Only open certain times so plan on a visit. Seems most every town had major fires near the turn of the century.

By reading their website ahead of time, we expected a much bigger and better displayed museum. Although some of the displays were very interesting the entire museum left much to be desired

Take time to step back in time and learn about the history of the area. Great for the family. Exhibits are well done and the staff are helpful.

The main reason to look at the museum is the incredible collection of Native American basketry, if you are interested in this. What a surprise! I wandered into the museum because I had nothing else to do. It had a lot of the usual old clothes and local old photos, but I was in awe when I found the basket... More

Be prepared for an aesthetic treat! There is a large room of Native American basketry and other ephemera that is unprecedented. The Hover Collection of Karuk basketry was destined for the basement of the Smithsonian until local leadership raised the funds to keep it in Eureka. Always check to see what's going on at the museum because there are days... More
