Loved it so much...we moved here!

After visiting, my husband and I decided to pack up and move here from southern Orange County! We love the peace and quiet and the beautiful scenery.

This unspoiled coast was made more special by the seals bobbing their heads up and down at the mouth of the bay.

Highly suggest everyone to take the drive around the entire bay. Scenic. You can easily make 20 unique stops on your adventure and each worth a trip by itself. Explore Arcata square and old town Eureka. Checkout the oyster farms and the Arcata sewage treatment plant (not kidding here). Madaket boat ride and Samoa Cookhouse (lumberjack style) meal. The Carson... More

We drove from Arcata out Hwy 255 towards Samoa on a rare warm, clear day. If you drive all the way to the end of the road past the Coast Guard Station you will be rewarded with incredible views of the bay, Eureka and areas south towards Table Bluff. Lots of area to get out and walk through the dunes... More

We are locals, and we often enjoy a ride across the bay bridge to the North Spit. A walk on either the North ,or South peninsula is a great way to view and enjoy the entrance to the bay. If staying in Eureka, the north end is very easy to access. It's about a twenty minute ride from down town.... More

We had a great time fishing the the Bay where we picked up a 26 pound Pacific Halibut. We headed down to the Cape where we picked up 5 Lings and 6 Black Cod. We landed a few salmon on the 44 to 46 at 180 or so depth finishing up our trip. The local guides were very helpful on... More

A favorite place for us on our road trip. And it's free! A great 1.7 mile walk on a gravel road around marsh. Saw birds. Great flowers too. Very beautiful and peaceful. Probably saw ten people there at most.

So much to see and do here. As you probably know, this is the 2nd largest bay in California and was hidden from "discovery" from the sea for quite a while. When someone says that they like the bay and they describe it, it is like that story where the children have their eyes closed and describe an elephant -... More

Humboldt Bay has something for everyone. There is beautiful scenery, bird watching, hiking, boating, fishing, kayaking, clamming, the Madaket boat tour, rail museum, boardwalk, and more.

This harbor is so well protected from the Pacific Ocean that it was discovered from the land side. Having said that, it is not spectacular. From Eureka's shore one can view myriad fishing vessels, and the opposite side of Humboldt Bay, vistas, which are not enthralling. Nonetheless, this is an historic harbor, which claims a place in the early history... More
