One of my favorite outings is a trip to this State Park. The walk through the meadow, crossing the bridge over the river, taking the docent assisted tour of the giant redwoods and stopping by the nature center and gift shop are all wonderful fun. For the go getters there is a very steep hike that takes you to a... More

We explored only a small part of this park, and it was beautiful. A wide variety of trails at various levels, and there are adequate washrooms and parking options. For people with mobility issues, there is also a short loop trail that is accessible. It is wide and flat, well maintained and close to the parking lot. The staff were... More

We found on this trip that there are many redwood parks throughout the coast of California. This was the 2nd redwood state park we had been to. (First was Big Trees). This park also has a lovely walking path throughout it with a brochure that tells you about the trees. It's quite amazing, you're driving in Santa Cruz and busy... More

We were here on Christmas day and the park was quiet and peaceful. The ranger station was nice and the range on duty was so informative! The walk was an easy pace as we just walked through the main area. You can hike further but we did not have the time to do so. The trees were humongous and stunning... More

I enjoyed learning about the age and history of these redwood trees. I am very happy they have been preserved and protected. We walked the pathways and read various information about certain trees. The next time I go to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park I am going to splurge on the Roaring Camp Train ride.

Came here with my husband, my four children ( 6yrs to 16 yrs) and in-laws. It was so beautiful. I could of spent a whole day here looking around. There are two trains, one takes you to the top of the mountain and the other I'm not sure. We got there at two and missed the last train. The trails... More

For 10$ you can park in the state park area and walk the 0.8 mile loop to see these amazing 1500 year old redwoods. This is a perfect trip for kids through seniors as long as you can walk. The path is not difficult. A must see and do!

My husband and I came here for a couple hours one afternoon. Even in that short time, we were able to do the short loop. So peaceful, serene, and grand! Plenty of the classic redwoods that you can stand in! These are not the most impressive redwoods in California, but they don't disappoint! We had a great time and wish... More

Their is a 1.25 mile walk through the redwoods, you will see some giants. Look for deer in the meadow especially at dusk. This is a wonderful experience in nature and you can also walk into Roaring camp and check out the trains.
