Great slwo drive

Just another wonderful place along the lost coast. So many giant redwoods you lose count. Plan on taking your time.

It was winter and the park was not busy but open. Unfortunately budget cuts had closed the restrooms. The walking trails were accessible by foot only. Breath taking scenery among the giant trees

I drove Avenue of the Giants down to Meyers Flat and then took the Lost Coast Road back to Eureka. There are more potholes than road, it can take 4 hours to go 80 miles, there are a lot of curves and steep incline, lots of driving on edges and very few (if any) guardrails. That being said, the views... More

My husband and I loved our time on the lost coast scenic drive. The views are great right away out of Ferndale and then when you finally see the coastline after winding up and down farmland. There was a section before the turn to Shelter Cove that was a little unsettling in that we were on a dirt road going... More

This can be an amazing drive if you know what you are getting into. The road is pretty bad for most of the trip so it can take 3 to 4 hours before you get back to civilization. I would hate to get stranded there.

Quiet road, winding and astonishing views when you reach the ocean. Cows in the meadows reaching the oceans, good hiking, but very few towns and no fuel untill you reach the 101.

Wow this HWY 1 adventure on the lost coast was amazing. We were in an RV class A and had amazing views from our drivers seat. We made some stops for pictures and it was amazing we were happy to be at an amazingly quiet part of the world. Stars at night were also amazing I recommend you go to... More

The worst road ever, but the coast is unspoiled and majestic. Awesome! Plan on 4 hour trip. The road is so bad! So going 15 to 20 mph is normal. Any faster and you will lose half tour car!

The road is twisty in places and sometimes undulating but the surface is generally good so a 4 wheel is not essential. Where else can you get a sandy beach totally to yourself and enjoy distant misty views of the coastline and trees while the sun slants beams through onto the sea. If you like solitude this drive is well... More
