I have always wanted to visit Ferndale so off we went! We stayed at an Airbnb hosted by Caroline and Stuart who run the local historic newspaper. We highly recommend their listing called The Barndominium. A unique tiny house right in the heart of town.It is elegant and beautifully designed, just right for two! A tour of the historic Fern... I drop by Ferndale often. There are some GREAT shops there. My favorite is Golden Gait Mercantile, which is a combination antique store, curio and novelty (especially Americana) shop, and museum. Another is Redeye Laboratories, an art gallery and super-hip surf shop with some of the coolest custom made surfboards on the planet. There's lots more cool places, but you... More

The stores in Ferndale are very nice, independently owned shops with personality and items you don't find everywhere. The village is very pretty and easy to walk.

There are so many wonderful shops all up and down the main street of Ferndale - and when you've worn yourself out shopping, there are quite a few places for either a meal or a snack. The people are very friendly. A fun thing to do is wander through the town, shop and eat and then go home and rent... More

I hadn't been there since the earthquake destroyed most of the town. Happily, it has come back and is just as neat as I remembered. Lots of small shops, good restaurants, art galleries and all within a few blocks! Stayed at the Victorian Inn and loved the place and the food. You can't go wrong in Ferndale!
