my wife is the usual reason for these trips as she likes looking for rocks in different places. We stopped by Chapman's and spent awhile looking through there rock and gem displays. Very nice, helpful when needed and reasonable pricing.

You can easily spend hours talking with the very knowledgeable staff. I am a custom wood worker and some times go there to buy semi precious minerals to use as inlay in some of my pieces

My girlfriend in San Francisco made a point of taking me there on one of our trips (we travel over 2000 miles in just a few days, stopping at interesting places). Being a rockhound, myself, found the young man and me, owners son (?) deep in discussion on different topics. 0ne of which was a completely opalized small limb cast... More

This place is great. It's the only rock shop in the area, and I stop by every chance I get just to ooh and ah, even if I don't plan to buy anything. There are a couple of places in Humboldt that specialize in beads or crystals, but this is the only real rock shop that has everything from slabs... More

Chapman's is located south of Fortuna just off Highway 101 halfway between Rio Dell and Fortuna. You wouldn't know to look at it, but the museum is worth the stop. It is also a great place to take kids.

I have gone to gem and mineral shops before. I usually don’t know what I’m looking at but I enjoy it anyway. This time I had the pleasure of visiting with a friend who actually knows what he’s holding in his hand and could tell me about it . This is what I can tell you about this shop: It’s... More

Learn and gloat over pretty rocks and jewelry. Beautiful huge museum rocks with interesting shapes. The people who run it are always very informative and patient. What's not to like? Nothing!

I'm really into rocks and minerals and was thrilled to stumble across this place on my road trip. They have a huge selection and the museum parts are so fun to check out. Hope to visit again soon.
