An established winery in the valley where wine was first made in California. Operated for generations of the same family. Recommend the port and sherry if they produce it that year. The reds are full bodied, the slight alkalinity of the soil lends itself to a smooth mouthful. The whites can be delicately floral, but weather and sun determine the... More

This winery is a real gem that produces some extraordinary wine. It's rare that I've had a tasting where I genuinely enjoyed everything I tried. This place has been there for almost 50 years. Third generation vintners. Same family. Very friendly and super passionate about their craft. LEGIT good wine. Not some rich dude indulging a hobby with a fancy... More

We have visited wineries with wine we like better but never received the royal treatment by a family member who remember the old days told us great stories and took great care of us.

With a distinct Italian feel about it, the winery was superb - second visit in the last 6 years and well worth it

Delicious but more traditional wines. The people there are very friendly and the tasting experience harkens back to the 1960s in Napa. Their dessert and sweet wines are especially delicious. We have friends from 50 miles away come to buy them here. One of five or six different wineries within a three mile radius which have terrific wines and rustic... More

Hecker Pass Winery is owned and operated by Sicilian octogenarian, Mario Fortino, just a few yards from the Fortino Winery, owned and operated by a relative. The tasting room is small, not full of kitschy stuff to buy...just wine to taste. Mario holds down the fort weekdays, a very pleasant woman on weekends. Mario also grows great oranges and over... The thing you have to love about this pace is the wine maker himself pours the wine. Had a great visit to this place. I was not crazy about some of the wine, but i loved the expearance. I did buy a bottle. Its so hard not to. If in the area stop in and give it a try.

This is our "go-to" winery for excellent value and tasty, every day wines. Chianti is very good. Also try their port! Very much a family run operation and low-key. Enjoy!
