Serious safety incident
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read, THIS PLACE IS DANGEROUS and the rocks can be VERY SLIPPERY Oct 4 2020 my twelve year old twins and I visited this beautiful place. I had heard from my parents who told me about to it to be VERY careful. When we arrived there was a family having a celebration in the pools above the fall... we went down below and observed for awhile my kids eventually jumped off the big rock with a few other locals.. I believe the big rock is the ONLY safe place to jump from the rocks above the fall are not only too slippery as they are almost always wet and mossy but if you jump there your just too close to the fall... TRAGIC ACCIDENT just minutes after my kids jumped one man from The family who was in the pool above the falls slipped fell he was not planning to jump, He hit his head on the way down, we got in and tried to get him but it was too late the falls took him under.. it happened in a second and he lost his life that day. My heartbreaks for his family who was there to witness that. I feel it needs to be known how dangerous it is, how many people die there every summer! Not trying to scare people away it just needs to be known. That’s 58 feet deep dark cold water and if you get sucked under that fall there’s no coming out.. emergency crews spent over 6 hours recovering him. ITS DANGEROUS PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Thank you, Concerned Mother, Traveler and Witness to a horrible event that took place here at rainbow pools

So beautiful! I would go early in the day before the crowds get there. My kids loved jumping off the rocks and swimming in the cool wateron a swelteringly hot day in July.

Great place to bring the fam and have a little picnic by the water. The falls are pretty, always lots of people so don't go if you don't like crowds but always fun too. Swimming, fishing and hanging out. public restrooms nearby and not too far away from Groveland.

We had a great day here, jumping and having fun. The jump from the waterfall can be slippery so be careful. My 42 year old brother slipped going off, thankfully, he was okay but we learned someone died only a week prior. Had we known, we wouldn't have let the kids jump. My nephew slipped also, not sure if our water socks were help or hurtful. We had a great day, just glad we did not know about the danger prior, but will not return for jumping in the future now that we know.

Came on a Monday late afternoon--the place was full to overflowing. Could hear kids coughing. No masks, no distancing. The California central valley currently has a high coronavirus infection rate. No thank you--we left. Too bad, it looks beautiful. If we were in the area longer, I'd consider coming early in the day before everyone else shows up.
