Each time I go back to Preston there is something else to learn, something else to see. The Foundation is doing an awesome job of trying to preserve history. Its old, its historical and the day time historic tours are the best. If your brave enough, try to do the ghost tours, Oh my off the hook.

Hello fellow Sojourners - I say 'living history' because it presently has a group of care takers doing the best they can to retain, maintain and ultimately restore the facility. A day trip to visit the Castle is definitely in order. The building is not open year round, so check the website for days and hours before hopping in the... More

We took a tour as well as attended several fund raisers for local causes at Preston Castle. The history on the castle was surprising along with some of its celebrity residents while it was a school for wayward boys back in the day. Well worth the visit will go back again.

Well, we did our part in helping to restore the place by taking a tour on the last day of the season. It is very sad to see how people have let this place deteriorate before they decided to do something about it and it's even more shameful what was done to the buildings in past decades but what do... What an interesting place even tho its in deplorable condition. A wonderful alternative to prison for troubled kids to learn a trade for a better life. Our tour guide was very informative, Meryl Haggard was there as a teenager. Must have been beautiful in its Victorian days, didn't see any ghosts. But loved the skeleton in the infirmary.

It guided tours only of the inside of the castle. The cost is $15 per person. There is so much history, that it takes about 1-1 1/2 hours to cover the area that is open. A lot of the castle is unavailable, due to structure damage, but that's where price of the tours helps with the restoration of the castle.... More

The Castle is in a sad state of affairs but it interesting to tour because one learns so much about how young delinquents were treated years ago. I wish they had talked more about the kids that were s ent there, some of the escapes and problems and less about the building itself. Not much mention of the "new" Preston... More

Preston Castle is a historical and architectural jewel, and a fantastic story of the good and bad of government. We had a great guided tour filled with stories of this boys reform school that opened in 1895 and closed in 1960. The school diverted boys from regular prison and taught them industry, military and educational skills. Several famous folks are... More
