So this site was heavily damaged by a protestor back in the days as an act of demonstration against the government. After the government took over the site, it has been well-cared for though many pieces have been destroyed. There are amazing pieces in this...More

The Beishan Rock Carvings are much smaller in scale, comparing with the main rock carvings in Baodingshan. It is worth a visit if one has time. I would highly recommend it if time allows. Ticket is 35 Chinese dollars during light season (winter 2017) or...More

the carvings are nice but not as good as the main Dazu Rock Carvings. Would suggest first priority is for the main Dazu site and the Beishan site is only visited if you have spare time. Not as impressive or natural as the main site...More

This group of smaller grottoes is situated a few miles away from the main Dazu Rock Carvings. They are equally interesting although not as well preserved, and can be observed from closer.

We were not sure what to expect, but it didn't disappoint. It was a great start to our 2nd trip to China. We chose site, along with Longmen & Yungang Grottoes, because they were not the typical sites that most Westerners visit. Amazing stuff!

I visited this site, and Baodangshan in one day trip departing from Chongqing, using Lark Tours as a guide. This was an amazing site to visit. It isn't nearly as popular as Baodangshan, which is a big plus! The carvings are magnificent, and older than...More
