We found this boat ride very peaceful and lovely scenery going down the river. It was around 1 hour and 45 mins and not the full 2 hours but that was enough, any longer would be too long. The tour guide is in Japanese but...More

We took the Sagano Romantic Train and decided to go back down the river with this very expensive 2 hour boat ride. The ride was rather bumpy. We shared the ride with a Hong Kong family and they were really noisy. Other than that, the...More

We took the romantic train to Kameoka and the boat ride from there back. Though the ride was a bit too long, 1.5-2hrs, it was fun, beautiful and peaceful scenery. Guides do not speak English; still nice experience.

so overrated! the ride was just average and the boatmen only speak Japanese so we couldn't appreciate his commentary/stories(?) Okay to do as otherwise there's nothing else more interesting in the Arashiyama area.

I can´t say how much we loved this! The waters are crystal clear and the forest around you is peaceful and of incredible beauty. You can see small fishes through the water and some ducks coming and going. I highly recommend taking the small boats...More

Top Tip: Check the weather in advance so you don't end up having to take the boat in the rain like we did. Make sure you buy a one-way ticket if you are taking the scenic train from the JR Saga-Arashiyama station area. This is...More

We spent a great afternoon on the Hozugawa River Boat ride. While the guides spoke no English, it didn’t make us feel any less welcome. We communicated with lots of smiles and laughter. The scenery is amazing, the water crystal clear, we are so glad...More

Perfect mix of relaxation and excitement! About 90 minutes of beautiful scenery and gags from the crew! Easily accessible, just take the JR train to Kameoka and then follow the signs to the departing station!

This was not a planned trip for the boat ride for us. We read up the tour guide book and saw the train, then right next to the train ticket counter, there is this boat ride package. We bought the train ticket first, then when...More

Its about 10-15 mins walk back to the train station. There is a map when you get off the boat. The river ends besides the back of the temples.

I noted that you are a Singaporean like me and I would think that anything below 10 deg Celsius will be considered cold for us. Do check on the day to day weather forecast as it varies. Nevertheless, it will be prudent to... More

Definitely, we took our 18 month old. They even have some space for a stroller if you have one. The ride is very gentle with only a few places you have told hold on slightly.
