We took my nieces to the Birch Aquarium and we all enjoyed it. It was plenty of animals and creatures to see and explore. This would be a great adventure for all ages.

I brought my 1.5 year old daughter here to see the animals. We got through the aquarium fairly quickly but she enjoyed the large tank and the jellyfish. Her favorite part was the tide pool touch tank, but one exhibit was closed. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I wish there was a little more to do here.

This is a lovely aquarium. It is quiet small but very well displayed. There is an amazing Collection of sea horses some of them are very rare. There is a touch pool for the children. The aquarium high in the hills so you have a lovely view of the coast below. A lot of research is carried out here and... More

This is a small aquarium but it has a huge variety of tropical fish and interesting tide pools. We were able to see the worker feed the tide pool residents and discuss the inhabitants and their eating habits. Very interesting and informative. We were impressed with their amazing collection of seahorses and were fascinated by all the sizes, colors and... More

Birch Aquarium is known for its jellies and sea horses-fascinating. Opens out to a tide pool exhibit( allowed to touch) with a fabulous view of the pier and the ocean. Great gift shop! It's good for an hour to an hour and a half . Bonus: free parking!

We visited the Birch Aquarium with friends in mid January. It was a school day and was not crowded at all. We were able to take our time to read everything and then look. I think that it would be a fun family experience. There are a couple of large tanks with very colorful fish. The fish in there had... More

Cool place to visit for a couple hours. I would recommend visiting and then going to La Jolla Shores for beach activities after as the two are very close and the aquarium can be done in a hour or two. Great place for kids.

This is what I call a Boutique Aquarium. It's small in comparison to many other Aquarium's in other cities but it's well worth the time to visit. They have several sea horses and jellyfish exhibits. The exhibits are very educational and well stocked with marine life. There is a small outdoor area overlooking the beautiful LaJolla waterfront. The outdoor area... More
