Attention to detail and personal touch from all of the staff on site respecting new social distancing regulations following Covid19 lockdown in the UK.
So as a family, aged range from 2 to 68 - a total of 20 (5 family groups) of us went to Oakerwood Leisure to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday for 2 days and 2 nights. We had a wonderful time staying from Sunday to Tuesday. The camp we stayed on was exclusively ours for the duration, we found it to be clean upon arrival. We had multiple sleeping pods which meant that each family group had their own pod to themselves.
There are 6 showers on camp and 6 toilets which again meant that each family bubble could have exclusive use of one of the facilities each. Everywhere else on camp was open plan, so was essentially outside. This meant that we could communally gather together around the fire pit or the BBQ shed at meal times and during the evening.
The children had a great time through all of this and could freely and safely play in the camp forest area and top corner of the adjacent field. Hide and seek and looking for frogs were particularly popular. We also had a bouncy castle for the kids set up on one evening on camp which proved really popular!
Activities we chose were quad biking, rafting and low ropes. There are many activities to choose from depending on your tastes and group preferences! The instructors were really knowledgeable, helpful and catered for us as a family dynamic. They ensured that all safety equipment was put on correctly and checked visually without the need to put their hands on any of the group. If there were occasions when they needed to check a helmet or buoyancy aid for example the instructor would use hand sanitizer before and after and PPE was always available and used as and where necessary.
We had a regular contact with the oakerwood team whilst planning our celebration, and whilst we were there, the team were accommodating and ensured our stay was memorable and hassle free. The personal attention to detail has been superb from the whole of the oakerwood team throughout the process.
We will definitely be returning as a family group (choosing some different activities as there are so many to choose from), but I would also recomend as a hen/stag party venue, team building exercises or just for groups of friends to catch up.
I would highly recommend Oakerwood to all - including friends, family and work colleagues.

Stumbled across Oaker Woods by chance and so pleased we did. After feeling contained by Covid to get out and about in fresh air was just what we wanted. Oaker Woods is a fantastic place for a family/ friend get together.
The Camp and Site
Two separate camping villages with several Sleeping Pods in each. We were 4 families and had one Pod each with another unlocked for the kids to go in should it be wet. The Pods are basic but comfortable with metal bunk beds. We had a POD that slept eight so had plenty of space to spread out.
The campfire is great with endless supply of firewood. Seats are not too comfortable round the edge but the Oaker Wood team had already informed us, so we had taken our own.
Lots of open space in the field and around the camp to move around.
The weather was great whilst we were there but if it were wet the camp is ready with the large hut and the separate indoor BBQ area.
We booked to do some activities (Quad Trekking, Zip Wire and Gladiator Challenge) all were well run, and the kids loved it. Gave the Adults some downtime too.
The Covid Side
For anyone worried about COVID arrangements they don’t need to be!! For our setup we chose a pod each family. The amenities allowed for us to have a shower and toilet for each family member. All shared areas are large enough for a family to have a section too.
Lastly, top comments must go to the Oaker Wood team who go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay. From booking to departure, they made us feel welcome. Delivered options available on site and were never pushy. Nothing we asked for was too much trouble.
Would highly recommend Oaker Wood to anyone looking to get away with Friends and Family. We will be going back.

A fantastic weekend away. We came to Oakerwood on a stag weekend and were impressed from the moment we drove through the gates. The woodland is beautiful and everything Oakerwood have built fits right in with the aesthetic and is really good quality. Before you even reach check-in you can tell it is a very well organised setup.
We were greeted, shown to our camp and given a tour of the facilities. Everything you could want was provided. The site is well considered in terms of layout and facilities. Fantastic covered area with kitchen and seating if it were to rain (thankfully it was gloriously sunny all weekend anyway!). A ridiculously generous amount of firewood for the stay. We had 12 of us keeping flames 6ft high and we didn't make much of a dent in the pile. Touches like that really make the difference in an experience.
The activities were really well run. Best paintballing I've done and didn't feel like the usual cash-grab when you ran low on balls. They were 5 quid a top up at the time of writing so an extra tenner saw most people through all the games.
Rafting was excellent. We mostly just paddled around on the lake due to the sunshine and heavy heads but there were plenty of games to be played if we had the energy.
All in all extremely impressive place and would highly recommend for families, stags and hens alike.

This family run business gave us a great time . They were very covid safe we had our own bathroom and wore masks to tighten our helmets . As a family of 6 we had 2 groups of 3 with 2 instructors who were so encouraging and gave is more time than we booked for .

One of the best quad biking experiences out there . Our guides Chris and Ben explained everything, COVID measures were reassuring and uncomplicated, ride was paced to get us used to the bikes before hitting the exciting trails. Gnarly tree roots, splash puddles, wiggly tree manoeuvres, adrenaline filled downhills through the woods - we all had smiles and felt it was excellent value for money

5/5 for David and his team who provided 5 pals with a superb and memorable experience.
We arrived late on Friday and were given a tour of the facility. We had a BBQ in the fire hut and then a few beers around the camp fire (which even us city dwellers with no outdoors skills could light).
Saturday was activities day; we did clay pigeon shooting in the morning and quad bike trekking in the afternoon. Both were excellent fun and very well supervised. In the evening we headed into Leominster (pronounced Lemster) and had a curry in Jalalabad (again would recommend). The town seemed to have a good range of pubs.
The camp is set within beautiful woods and countryside. The huts are warm and comfortable providing a good night sleep; and the shower is better than mine at home. In the run up to the event David, Louise, Anika answered all my questions promptly and were incredibly helpful and accommodating.
The whole shebang is very well run, safe and secure but laid back. You'll come back relaxed, refreshed and re-wilded.

The smiles, mud, paint splats with the constant nattering of the boys recalling this event speaks great volumes. Cautious at first and wanting all the boys and their parents to be more than comfortable doing this event in these strange times. Oakerwood where we had been last year for quad biking, again delivered all the boys and mine expectations.Great briefing , introductions and interaction from Mike and Sam at Oakerwood made all feel safe and excited undertaking this paintfest. Great locations with the undergrowth, land rovers and helicopter all added to this great experience. Great physical and mental health tonic in these COVID times so DO IT and you will enjoy . Thanks to all at Oakerwood

A grabbed opportunity to celebrate a birthday which normally gets swallowed by Christmas festivities - and before a possible January lockdown. My son and just four friends had a blast on the quad bikes amidst the beautiful setting that is Oakerwood. The staff managed to explain all the safety considerations for the bikes, and all the Covid- compliant hygiene measures with a fantastic mix of humour and seriousness!
With the great outdoors, helmets and head-sock things (!) there was little to be worried about. Will definitely be going again in 2021 to try a different activity.

This was a much deferred birthday present for our two granddaughters (aged 13 and 11) due to the pandemic but was worth the wait. We had a beautiful sunny autumn day, following on from wettishnweather, so the track was suitably muddy! Everything was very well organised and felt very safe from a virus point of view. Chris and Carrie looked after us brilliantly and couldn't have been nicer. Chris was fantastic at reassuring our youngest when she had a couple of bumps on the practice track and quickly rebuilt her confidence. The time went by all too quickly and was enjoyed by us all. It was a first for me, a 73 year-old grandma, and it was an experience I'm so glad to have had.

We had a paint balling event for a group of 10 blokes booked for a Saturday morning and were greeted by main host Phoebe, assisted by Charlie.
Phoebe basically took control, stood no nonsense from us and ran through the safety briefings and rules in a very clear way.
We had four games across three terrains, all of which were very well constructed and realistic and led to some highly competitive, enjoyable and hilarious fun.
This was a great Saturday morning's entertainment, made for us by Phoebe who joined in the constant banter and encouraged the competitiveness to ensure we had a fantastic experience.

is it possible for a family (2 adults) with 1 child to visit and participate, or do you have to be part of a larger group?
Written 7 July 2017
Hi sorry - just seen this question. All our activities are pre booked. We can sometimes fit in small family groups mid week. Or we have a family adventure day this Sunday - £80 for a family of 4 for full day of activities.

Hi - thanks for your enquiry. For most of our activities we do require a min number of 8, although we can sometime accept smaller groups (min 4) mid week, subject to availability. As a family of 3 there are 2 possible options thought - We have a family adventure day on Sunday 13th August - more info see our web site.
Or we have a family woodland Krypton trail open mid week in school holidays which is self guided
Please contact us if you wish to book either of these.
Thanks
Kate
