Faith took us out on a pontoon to photograph Grebes during their nesting/mating period in early August. She did a great job of trying to get us in position for some great photos, taking into account lighting, distance, etc. all while also respecting the safety and comfort of the wildlife. She was not hesitant to say we were too close to any of the birds and that she was backing the boat up - I really respected that. Faith also did a good job of calling out behaviors and cues from the birds. It was as if she could speak Grebe! By the end of the trip I was able to recognize mating rituals and sounds which led to several series of great "rushes" Clear Lake itself is probably a destination I would only go to photograph Grebes and other birds, but when I do I would definitely reach out to Eyes of the Wild and Faith.

On March 10, 2020 my family and I took a multi-generational family trip with Eyes of the Wild on Clearlake. Birthdays are special in our family, and this was one of the most enjoyable birthday trips that I have ever taken. Faith is a guide with expert knowledge about the birds and knew exactly where to navigate her boat so that we could observe the variety of beautiful birds on Clearlake. She knew just the right amount of information and anecdotal stories to keep us all interested and entertained. From the eight-year-old to the sixty-four-year-old, our day was filled with joy and excitement on this trip. We highly recommend Eyes of the Wild.

My wife, a friend and I had the great good fortune to book a tour to see "rushing" grebes. We had tried to go earlier, but Faith called us to cancel because the usual location was not very active, saving us money and time. She found a better location and a week or so later we were on the water. You can't control weather or bird behavior, but Faith worked hard to put us in the best position to take good photos and the weather and birds really came through for us. What I loved most about Faith was her enthusiasm and her love for the birds, which really comes across when she points out some of their behaviors. I would give her a 10 out of 5 if I could.

Viewing wildlife on Clear Lake is amazing. I’ve seen grebes, ospreys, bald eagles, mergansers, white pelicans, blue herons, white egrets, snowy egrets, Canadian geese, ducks, king fisher, otters, musk rats, turtles, fish, just to name a few! 😉

My wife and I arranged with Faith to take just the two of us so that we could concentrate on seeing and photographing Grebes making their courtship "rushes". We left the dock about 5:30 AM on her pontoon boat and headed for the north end of the lake where the Grebes were more concentrated. Faith knows what to look for in Grebe behavior so that if a couple were about to start their "rush" she would rev up the boat to get close enough for photographs when the birds started running across the water. I got some great shots of them going, coming, right and left. After a while the Grebes seemed to lose interest in courting so we moved around looking for other birds. My wife, being an ardent bird watcher, was interested in seeing whatever else we could find. And we saw and I photographed many others, including White Pelicans, Ruddy Ducks, Trumpeter Swans, Yellow-headed Blackbirds, and Ospreys carrying fish. We are wildlife enthusiasts and Faith is even more so. She made every effort to make sure we had a good experience. She was quite successful and it was an experience which we will hopefully be able to repeat. I will also note that although the tour we paid for was for 2.5 hours, Faith extended it for another hour because we were having such good sightings.
