We were camping and decided to visit this park which included La Purisma mission. The visitor center had great exhibits regarding the history and involvement of the CC during the Depression. We toured the facility and the rooms were decorated with items that were used during the time the mission was active. There were no schools in attendance so we... More

I've been to La Purisima many times. I usually come here to hike with my girlfriend and dog, but I occasionally come just to wander the grounds and say hi to the animals or peer into the rooms. I like how they have set up many of the buildings to look like they would have when it was a working... More

This is a state park so basically the hours are sunrise to sunset. Every now and then there are special night time events with docents as your host. The Mission is huge and there are many trails that go for miles behind and above the Mission in unspoiled topography. The many buildings are well maintained, the church interior is extremely... Everyone in Lompoc knows where you went when you say "I'm walking at the mission." The two trails most used are the "upper loop" and the "lower loop". The lower loop is fairly flat and most popular. The upper loop is more of a challenge and not as well traveled. Both are approximately 3 miles. The mission itself is is... More

This mission stood out at as one of ‘the ones to visit’ on our PCH road trip, as there are so many great missions to see! It was really worth the trip, and there was a lot we could see from the old days. The church portions were very impressive, and seeing how they lived back then was very cool... More

Love this place It is Beautiful. It's self guided. A great learning excursion for the family . They have animals and allow you to walk through the mission to see how the missionaries lived long ago , what they planted , the animals that were kept . It is a wonderful experience

Very informative museum. See this museum before going to the buildings. Well restored & maintained buildings. Easy to navigate without a guide.

La Purisima Mission, is not an active church and is a State Park. It has had significant restoration accomplished to represent life as it was in its early day. There are both indoor and outdoor exhibits to see. Some of the exhibits are; the church, Pottery shop, gristmill, fountains, barrack rooms, leather shop, the village, Rectory and Father Payeras burial... More
