We were staying near downtown and looking for a place to have a few drink and conversation to wrap up a long work weekend and came across this place. I was impressed by the cool retro décor, along with the gopher lamps. The bar is long enough to sit a dozen or so people, the liquor and draft beer selection... More

I had seen this place on TV and was excited to try it out when we were in LA. It did not disappoint. Really cool, hipstery atmosphere, pool table, packed with all kinds of people. The bartender was awesome. They don't serve food but you can have pizza ordered from a nearby shop. Plenty of good beers and creative cocktails.... More

Renovated in 2004, Golden Gopher is a classic in every sense; decor, vibe and liquor-to-go on the way out the door. Outdoor smoking patio, friendly bartenders and kitschy gold... More

We went for happy hour and the drinks still seemed expensive but it was a cool atmosphere. We enjoyed our Cinnimun shots and some beers. I would love to go back. They have pool tables too!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
