This is a beautiful Local gem, where you can stroll through the forest of Eucalyptus trees where Monarchs migrate and see lots of native area plants or just sit, relax, and bird watch where the forest meets the ocean. It is an excellent place to see Great Blue Herons and white Egrets. My son had his Senior portraits taken here,... More

Sweet springs Nature Preserve borders the south end of Morro Bay Estuary and offers tremendous views of the estuary and Morro Rock besides being a viewing location for ducks and other water birds. Short walk from street parking. Slight slope to trail, tranquil area amongst eucalyptus trees.

This sweet little preserve is walking distance from us. I've been here many many times. It is a Monarch butterfly wintering area. You can sit on a little pier to gaze at birds or the estuary. You can walk through the trails and see turtles and ducks in the pond. We have seen a bald eagle over the past 2... More

This is another preserve in the Baywood area of Los Osos. The preserve can be found by going through town towards Montana de Oro and turning off before you head up the hill. Lots of parking out front where it does not look like much. Its about 90 acres with a one mile path. Lots of herons and other birds.... More

The quiet walk through the trees to end at a pond full of ducks and the back bay to your back, doesn't get any better than this. You can look to your hearts content and never see the same thing twice.

Nice nature preserve with paths and trails that allow you to stroll at a leisurely pace through the preserve. There are numerous species of birds and this preserve is managed by the Audubon Society.

Here you can find serenity. The smell of the Eucalyptus trees and the sound of the ocean! On warm sunny days you can catch the turtles sun bathing. There is a look out at the end of the wooden walkway. I have seen people with their binoculars looking for different species of birds as well.

A very peaceful place to stroll and take photos. There are boardwalks throughout the preserve that take you in different directions. A great place to see various types of birds and also snap photos of the ocean and Morro Bay in the distance.

This is a tranquil little reserve of cypress and eucalyptus trees that surround a little fresh water pond that is a natural spring that was apparently used by the Chumash. There is a short, small gravel trail through the reserve that has views of the pond and the estuary beyond. There are plenty of bird varieties to enjoy and very... More
