Very busy and touristy as is to be expected. Interesting history...I read the book by John Steinbeck on my return home!

This will be one of my all time fav' places to "get away" to! Lots of things to do and see or if you just want to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery. Shops are adorable and the sea life is close enough to watch from the restaurant patio. I have been able to see Seals looking for fish... More

Love Cannery Row, even with all the souvenir shops and kitchy stores. Along the street, is still possible to imagine old Doc Ricketts in his lab, as well as the Sardine Factories, no longer there. It is quintessentially historic.

You don't go to Monterey and miss Cannery Row with all it's shops and great restaurants. Spend half a day and enjoy.

Lots of restaurants and stores! We got lunch and took the kids to the candy store! What a great store! Found Harry Potter chocolate frogs and kinder eggs. My kids and I were in heaven! Hubby found some frat nostalgic candies too! A must go to after an aquarium visit

We wanted to visit this area because of the Steinbeck link. We were surprised to find the bust of Steinbeck and the Cannery Row Monument. Their are also lots of restaurants and shops in the area.

Always a joy to walk the "Row" and snoop thru the various shops. Off season is always wonderful with the smaller crowds, especially during the week.

Okay, you're thinking about coming to California and you've been to San Francisco. Now where else can you go that isn't too far away from either the Bay Area? Take a drive to Monterey. You have two nice ways of getting there...fly or drive. If you fly into San Jose, you're not too far away by driving via US101 South.... More

It is the place to have dinner in Monterey. Not an amazing sort of restaurants with fabulous cuisine, but the surroundings (the sea is at one side) makes partly for it.
