Multiple small shops. A tourist rap but fun place to visit for the history of the sardine industry. Several good restaurants here. Nice public walking trail.

We spent a lot of time here walking in the shops and eating at the restaurants. They have a lot of cute areas to walk through. Be sure to continue on past the aquarium- it looks like there is nothing there but there were some great views a block or two down. Park a few blocks inland for free

Cannery Row is a tourist trap filled with generic t shirt stores and over priced food. The aquarium is amazing but the only thing worth any time on Cannery Row.

Lovely area for tourists with some good walks along the route known as Cannery Row. This was made famous with John Steinbeck's wonderful novel called Cannery Row. It is a long street lined with sardine canneries. The sardine industry is long gone, but many of the concrete buildings remain. Well worth a visit if you happen to be in this... More

Great place to take a leisurely stroll among the small shops and restaurants. Keep in mind, there are no breakfast places or cafes besides Starbucks, so eat at your hotel is best. Many fish restaurants are available and sweet stores

This is a beautiful walk right on the water in Monterey with lots of restaurants and little shops to check out. It was a bit touristy but it was not crowded and still had a lot of little local shops. We enjoyed a nice seafood dinner, ice cream at local spot, Ghirardelli chocolate and a wine tasting! Beautiful at night... More

Worth a walk down but nothing really special, except for the views of the Bay. They have made access to patios to view the ocean a priority. You can see the shadows of the Canneries which once were thriving along the Bay, but it is more a tourist stop then anything

Rather than using the more expensive car parks close to the aquarium we parked in one close to the marina and walked there along Cannery Row. You do wonder how much the current buildings reflect what this area was like during the height of the sardine and anchovy canning industry as today it feels more Disney theme park than historical... Review title says it all really. There was no debt to Steinbeck in this ersatz recreation of Cannery Row. Just lots of overpriced tat and refreshment outlets. Bit of a disappointment really - especially for Steinbeck lovers.
