About an hour south of San Jose, Henry Coe park is a great place to hike. It's possible to do short, medium or long hikes, as well as varying degrees of difficulty. My wife and I entered through the Hunting Hollow entrance and completed an 8.5 mile hike. The first 2.3 miles were a tough uphill hike with minimal shade. After that it was mostly downhill, but still minimal shade. Wear a hat and sunscreen. The park has beautiful scenery, so bring along your camera. …

We came here to pass time before meeting family for dinner in San Jose. The drive from the 101 is a windy, uphill, 10-mile scenic road. We passed several wildflowers and saw a large hawk along the way and pretty views of Anderson Lake in the distance. When you reach the park they have a few outcrop buildings at the top including a barn and a ranger office/mini museum/bottled drinks & food concessions for sale. Day use is $8/car. The views of the rolling hillsides in distance were very pretty and it was ten degrees cooler than the town of Morgan Hill below. It was a lovely place for a hike and picnic! …

I've always enjoyed the state parks in Santa Clara County and Henry Coe is one of the best. It just takes so long to get up there I don't make it there enough. From 101 exit on Dunne you are looking at 20-25 minutes just to get to the parking. Enjoy the hikes.

There are many well marked trails with a lot to see along the way. Plenty of wildflowers, birds, and animals like coyotes, deer, and wild pigs. You can see them all on a single hike through the area. There are also quite a few small lakes and ponds that are all full of Bass. The fishing is really good, but you will have to hike a ways to get to them.…
