Time to spin those history wheels and learn a bit about the central coast. Great picture and fun things for kids to do. Lots of history about the native Indians and the rock before it was blown up a bit!

Not only is this a very nice museum, but the ladies in the museum store will give you a map and directions to the best bird sightings for the day. There's also a posting outside the door of types of birds sighted for the day. Good info and good souvenirs.

Looking for a place to take the kids while staying in Morro Bay? Head to the Museum of Natural History across the road from Morro Bay State Park and campground. Lots of interesting and educational information for the whole family. A great way to spend a couple of hours.

This is one of the only museums in a CA state park. Founded about 50 years ago by volunteers, it occupies a premier location on morro bay. It has a large collection of interactive displays, a great gift shop and superb views. Entrance is very cheap, and the volunteer staff i more than eager to help. A great place to... More

I have visited this museum many times over the past 40 years. I always come away with a bit of knowledge I didn't have before. Nicely done displays and dioramas of the local flora and fauna will impress you. Take some time and hike around the museum grounds and up to the heron rookery. Pack a picnic lunch, or bring... More

We were pleasantly surprised at how good this little museum is! There were a nice variety of exhibits about the bay, weather, climate, environment -- everything very well done. And there are several well-informed and interesting docents who really enhance the experience. There's also a small gift shop with nice things for sale -- all of which benefit the park.... More

The museum is wonderful, but it's a very, very long walk for people with disabilities; ie using a cane or walker. This was a big issue for us.
