Nice Visit to Pioneer Park - Downtown Mountain View, Ca
Jul 2020
We went to the very nice park in the downtown area of Mountain View This is also where the library, city hall, and performance art theater is. There are places to dine before or after visiting.

Always a hit

My granddaughter loves Pioneer Memorial Park so a visit is always on our agenda. The green space is really pleasant and well maintained. There are usually a number of special events that make going to the park a lovely experience. We always have a great time!

Attractive urban park

I enjoyed browsing in the library and exploring City Hall. The outdoor stroll through some redwoods was good for meditation.

In the center of mountain view downtown

This is the place of the library, city hall and nice park where kids play and adult relax. If there were play structures for the kids it would be better.

Great venue

We visited Pioneer Memorial Park with our granddaughter. She loved running around the large green spaces and playing on the swings. It was also a Tuesday during the summer and the Library was sponsoring a children's program. There was a musical group set up in the park and the children were able to dance with the performers. We had a lovely morning!

Beautiful park in the center of Mountain View
May 2017 • Solo
Pioneer Memorial Park is a large green space pretty much in the center of Mountain View. It is surrounded by three city facilities, City Hall, The Center for Performing Arts and the Mountain View Library. All are well designed and modern (all built 25 years ago). City Hall and the CFPA are done is a beige-pink stucco with light brown tile, are especially pleasing. The park is actually built on top of a very old, large cemetery (hence “Memorial”) and instead of moving all those that are buried there and building out the cityscape, it was decided to not move them and build a park over them instead. There are lots of non-native trees and plants, and those are identified with small plaques on posts. There is a large circular walkway around the park that takes 3 minutes to walk, making it between 1/8 and 1/4 mile. Many people come here on their lunch hour to get some exercise. The park and facilities mentioned are within the city block bounded by Castro St., Mercy St., Franklin St., and Church St. Walking on the sidewalks on this boundary takes 8 minutes or just about 1/2 mile. There is a typical Japanese rock garden in one corner, a gift from Mountain View’s sister city, Iwata, Japan. There is a special rake there anyone can use to make patterns in the gravel. Kids love to play there (little boys bring their trucks!). The lawns are well-groomed, cut once a week. This is a very relaxing place to come, with lots of benches to sit on.
