ZD Wines is owned and operated by three generations of the deLeuze family....

ZD Wines is owned and operated by three generations of the deLeuze family. Producing world class Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, ZD Wines is located in Rutherford on the beautiful Silverado Trail. Founded in 1969, ZD's mantra of "(Z)ero (D)efects" is based on founder Norman deLeuze's history in Aerospace - which set the tone for the winery's focus on quality, consistency and style. The ZD style is to craft rich, flavorful wines that reflect the varietal character of the grape. ZD has a strong internal emphasis on ecology. ZD's Estate Vineyards located in Rutherford and Carneros have been certified organic since 1999. The use of an implemented waste reduction program and a water recycling system are in place, and the entire winery is powered by solar, truly reflecting ZD's commitment to the health of the environment surrounding us. The winery welcomes visitors 7 days a week for the seated UnWined Tasting. In addition, special tour experiences are available by appointment, including our Vineyard View Tour & Tasting, Eco Vineyard Tour, Library Selection Tasting and private group tastings. The ZD website provides more detailed information about each of these options.

Great wines and loved the tasting room upstairs. Carson made the tasting such a great experience. Spring for a tasting of Abacus, so worth it. Not far from Napa and I recommend Beau Wine Tours.

For those of you who know all the Napa wineries and frequent them on a regular basis, this review is not for you. For anyone interested in the newcomers perspective of a fantastic Napa Valley winery, hopefully this will be helpful. My wife and I were fortunate enough to be able to enjoy a special tasting out on the gorgeous... More

We went here based on our hotels recommendation - said we would really appreciate the scenery. Yes, from the balcony it was a beautiful view. However, I think where this winery really shined was when Rafael greeted us and walked us through a very informative yet interesting wine tasting. He made the visit special and so worthwhile. Cheese and crackers... More

We came here with 2 other couples and we couldn't wait to join the wine club. We had a private wine tasting but no real tour. The wines were fantastic and the hostess was very knowledgeable on the history and wines which we really enjoyed. It feels like a small family run winery, and it is. If you can, make... More

Really nice terrace upstairs overlooking the hills. Staff were extremely helpful and personable. Had never tasted their wines before and found them to be decent. They provide a complimentary cheese platter for the tasting. No reservation necessary.

We are consumers of ZD and enjoy their Pinots particularly. First visit to winery was a real disappointment. Without exception, their staff from top to bottom were offhand and unhelpful, queries (including buying or wine club) generally being handled on the "it's on Web" response. Shame reLly as location pleasant, decent (though not exceptional) wines. Undoubtedly we had the lousiest... More

We are in ZDs First Taste wine club. The tasting was great and the outside and inside tasting areas were really nice. I really enjoy ZD wines. Our hostess was terrific. We had a hyper 2 year with us and she treated us great -- even holding my daughters hand to walk down the steps. Do not miss this winery... More

We had our tasting out on the terrace, which was wonderful. For me ZD was one of the better tastings we had in terms of wine quality, I'm going to keep my eyes open for their bottles on the shelf now. It's not cheap - in general Napa tastings are overpriced especially compared to Sonoma, but for the quality of... More
