Monarch Dunes is Woodland's tribute to the origins and tradition of golf....

Monarch Dunes is Woodland's tribute to the origins and tradition of golf. Surrounded by windswept dunes and eucalyptus trees, coastal vistas and amber-colored hillsides, Monarch Dunes Golf Club is reminiscent of the true links-style courses found in Scotland and a must play for those who seek a challenging, yet amiable, unspoiled golf adventure. Monarch Dunes: Links to the traditions of golf.

The front nine gave up a few a holes that while long and challenging made us overly confident because as soon as we were on the back 9 we fell apart. Great course with amazing landscape scenery, hole placement. This is a contender of a course. Parts of the course weave through the community but mostly you are framed on... More

We played the 12 hole par 3 course and thoroughly enjoyed it. Interesting assortment of holes with very tricky greens. Very nice layout with a variety of holes. Some water holes. Greens were soft but relatively quick. I'm a 9.1 index and found it challenging enough to want to play it more.

Locals prefer Monarch Dunes and Cypress Ridge over the older Black Lake golf course on the Nipomo Mesa. The other San Luis Obispo course my out of the area "golf nuts" like to play is Hunter Ranch up in Paso Robles...but not during the heat of summer. If you want to teach your spouse or kids to play, Monarch Dunes... More

This golf course will eat you alive if you are playing for the first time. It is my third time and I lost three balls in the gullies and dunes. It is up and down up and down, The day we played was windy,..make that VERY VERY windy which is difficult on an easy course let alone a dune and... More

This is a very well kept course , friendly staff , and great food in the butterfly grill. The holes are challenging, and the views are spectacular. It is worth the drive to play here Sandra

This is a local community hang out with good grub, a full bar and, during daylight hours, a wide net for central California golfers.

It has been a while since I have visited the Golf Club - I usually go into the restaurant and spa for an amazing experience. I can say that every time thatI have gone for a quick breakfast for lunch that the service has always been excellent and the food outstanding. The views are peaceful and relaxing. I am not... More

Since a client bought me set of golf clubs and I collected some 200 "pond/pond area" balls I decided to take up golf. 18 holes freaks me out re: almost 5 hours on a golf course so I play the 12 hole well maintained "Challenge" course. It's very pretty...with newer homes just off the course. The greens are not level... More

As indicated by its name, Monarch Dunes is a dunes course. So it's not manicured like a resort course and there are many places you'd rather not hit your ball. It's a much better experience the second time around when you know what to avoid. The clubhouse is nice with a good restaurant (the Butterfly Grill).

I will have to say this is one of my favorite golf courses on the central coast. Its always open and easy to get a tee time. They do require a collared shirt so don't forget. They have two courses. One is a full and fun 18 hole, the other is a 12 hole par three course. Check out their... More
