The house tour was interesting and it was fun to watch the dancing in period costumes. The gift shop had some nice items.Overallit was fun, but a bit pricey for what it offered. Doing it once was fun and enough.

Even though they have it written on the door and signs "open to the public". We weren't able to see anything inside but walked the lovely grounds.

I misunderstood the web site. I thought the house and grounds were open Mon to Fri and there was an organized tour on Wed at 11am, however, the tour is the only time the house is open.The rest of the time you can only walk...More

do not miss the pumpkin patch at this lovely villa with wonderful gardens. If you lucky there may be a fest going on, we did and had a great time, don't forget the gift shop

I was driven to the Dunsmuir by a friend. I am not familiar with the public transportation in Oakland. You might want to contact the Oakland Parks and Recreation. I believe they operate the attraction.
