The Ojai Valley Museum highlights the history, art and culture of the valley through museum exhibitions, programs and events. Housed in a National Register Building (originally the St. Thomas Acquinas Church) the museum includes semi-permanent history exhibits, a Sespe Wilderness diorama, highlights from the permanent art collection, and a Chumash Interpretive Garden. Four major original exhibitions are mounted each year, alternating between history and art subjects. A museum gift shop featuring books, gift items as well as locally produced cards and postcards. A tourist information office is included on the SE corner of the building. It is staffed 7 days a week with brochures, maps and magazines to help you make the most of your trip to Ojai. Regular events include 10:30am Saturday historic walking tours of downtown(no tours in August, September or on Ojai Day) for only $7 which includes museum admission and Town Talks on a wide variety of subjects (typically 3rd Sundays at 4:30-6pm) for $5. Check website for most up to date schedule of Town Talks.

The history of Ojai is fascinating. I learned a lot about the native people (Chumash) as well as the people who contributed to the farming and the development of the community and tourism. It was interesting to see photos and read about the early hotels, local artists and the evolution of the community.

This is a small museum with some interesting history about Ojai. You could take children here. Once you've seen it, there might not be much motivation to return.

Sunny day, local visit & we like museums - an interesting museum with a lot of information on the local history - mostly using old postcards. Immaculately clean & bright. $10 each for seniors helped the foundation but was over priced for what iwas there. But still worth a visit if you are in the area

Not a big museum at all, so it does not take very long. It was nice to find out more about the city's origins. I would have liked to see more exhibits dedicated to The Chumash though.

For a $5 admission per adult, spend 40 minutes viewing the history of Ojai in a former church that was repurposed to meet this need. The displays are well documented and for the period that we visited the annex to the building showed a collection of postcards that went back to the late 1800's.

Loved learning about the Chumash Indians, how they lived, seeing a collection of the tools they used and waterproof containers made from reeds and river foliage. Also learned about the settlement of the area, with good history of the ranchos from when California belonged to Mexico. A beautiful diorama and a couple of small exhibits of local artists such as... Although it is fairly small, this museum has a surprising amount of local lore & history . The staff was very helpful and friendly. I didn't spend a long time in here but it gave me a good insight into the area. Worth a stop

The main local exhibit has some interesting displays but is fairly small. The Cartoon exhibit was quite interesting and had some very old items.
