A friend and I visited last week - a first time for me. I loved it - very well laid out and animals have wonderful digs true to their natural habitat. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. We choose to pay $6 for the hop on - hop off shuttle and it was great and informative. We watched the cheetah run... More

It is fairly spread out and once you are in there are a lot of extras you need to pay for like the train that circles around, carousel, butterfly exhibit, and camel rides. The train was fun to do a lap around and get an idea of what there was to see.

Had a great time here with our family, including 21 yo and 16 yo - lots of cool animals to see in a beautiful setting. Would definitely come here again! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

The animal enclosures were spacious and natural and caretakers had chats throughout the park. The botanical gardens were lovely as well. We took the 5 mile hike from the back side of the zoo, which was a great bonus.

I visited with 8 and 10 year old boys. This was a highlight of our SoCal trip. They were very impressed with the train display and would have visited for the trains alone. Make sure you visit the hospital. There weren't any animals there when we were there, but the volunteers were full of information. We've been to a number... More

Visited over Christmas holidays with grandchildren. Petting Kraal is always a favorite and kids can feed the girsffe during daily feeding times. Camel rides were a big attraction, and the large display of trains are a kids delight. Butterfly aviary was interesting - even if th y are not very active during the colder months.

I have been to the San Diego Zoo so I know what a quality zoo looks like. This zoo had high quality enclosures. I was particularly impressed with the mountain sheep enclosure. We were there in January and everything was so relaxed. Lots of interaction with the zoo keepers, easy to partake in the various feeding events. All the animals... More

Be sure to take time to walk through some of the cactus gardens. Kids (and adult kids) will love the trains.

I thoroughly enjoyed this place! I love plants and the animals were almost all in very large spaces. It was a sunny and fairly cool day so the animals were quite active. There is also a place to hike in the desert.
