This has become a very popular trail - I started hiking it 15 years ago (when dogs were allowed off leash - no dogs at all any more). It's a good hike - but in the winter, it has become so popular, some of the fun has gone. Nonetheless, it's great exercise and beautiful views.

Beautiful but strenuous desert terrain is scenic but dry, carry water. Pack it in pack it out. Many groups hike different trails weekly and monthly.

Took about an hour to reach the top with the high school girls lacrosse team as we had a tournament over the weekend in the area. There is a great view at the top! It is not paved, but totally doable.

This is a good workout that can be done in two directions for different experiences. If you go clockwise it starts out fair and then becomes quite steep with switchbacks. Then as you get to the top there is a spur that takes you to a flattened off clearing with a 360 degree view. I think the ascent is about... More

The Bump and Grind is very popular among locals. It's a great way to start the morning. My wife and I try to do it at least twice a week. There are many ways up, but we always choose the far left side, which then halfway connects to the zig zag trail. (we like this one because we've done them... More

We have hiked this often during this stay as well as last year. There are a number of different trails here in differing lengths and levels of fitness. If you take your time, you can go for it regardless of ability. I am constantly humbled by the real fitness folks who jog or run the trails. On a warm day,... More

This is not a long trail, but with lots of switch backs up a steep hill, one will feel the muscles stain as you move up the mountain. And once at the top, what a great view of Palm Desert and beyond.

The Bump and Grind is a pretty decent hike.... great exercise, terrific views. The biggest issues are the number of hikers doing the trail (a lot) and they don't allow dogs. Once you get to the top, its a beautiful view and worth the sweat!

great hike in mid day in December. we took the right trail at the start. easier going up but steeper on the return leg. not sure if doing the steep part first would be advisable for beginners. great views of the valley. 1 hour and 20 minute loop. excellent work out to get ready for dinner in PS. lots of... It's the most popular trail in the desert. It has many different routes. Anybody can do it from beginner to advanced hiker!
