Aw some hike!

If you're 55 and in average shape, don't smoke or drink too much, and your knees and hips are fairly ok, I would recommend this hike. I walked it today with my lovely wife. We... read more

We travel and hike a good deal in our National Parks so this hike was significantly different than any of those..... Glacier, Mt. Rainier, Yosemite, and Arches to name a few. There are some good views of the valley on the Bump and Grind, but other than that I did not find this to be a great hike. You look... More

If you're 55 and in average shape, don't smoke or drink too much, and your knees and hips are fairly ok, I would recommend this hike. I walked it today with my lovely wife. We went up the southern trail (the left side one as you're standing looking at the sign). It was relatively easy going up, and very easy... More

Great hike for the average hiker, which we are. lots of parking and many hikers to ask directions. Some signs say dogs welcome some say not, so check before you pack your pooch.

There are several trails in and around the Bump and Grind. The only problem is it get's crowded, so if you're there just for the hike it's great. If you're into something a little more of a hike with not so many people I would highly recommend the trails at the top of the Cove in La Quinta. There there... More

Friends recommended this trail to us and we were not disappointed. It's pretty steep in parts, but the larger part of the trail is quite wide and the views are great. Do take water and a sunhat!

We do the Bump and Grind most days on our desert vacations. If you take the scenic route (staying to the right at the beginning) you will traverse two miles up and two miles back down. Wear good shoes and socks, carry water, wear sunscreen/hat and enjoy! This trail can be used by all ages (no strollers!), but is uneven... More

Our hotel recommended as B&G is close by & free. I recommend wearing your hiking shoes, if you have them. I didn't so just wore my running shoes. I suggest, if you're facing the hill, entering from the left (clockwise) as the path is narrow and steeper than the right. Don't forget water and enjoy the views!

I went with a friend and I haven't been working out for the past two months. This is a great work out. Trails available for beginner to more advanced hikers. Some more advanced run the trail which is very rocky and would take some skill to do that. Everyone is very friendly and if you move slower just let faster... More

I would start clockwise on this trail in the future. I went counter-clockwise and when I got to the top, the path down was terrifying narrow so I came down the same way I went up. I find that it is easier to go up narrow paths than going down. And yes, there is parking behind the Target.

My family and I discovered the trails of the San Jacinto mountains on a recent trip to Palm Desert. They are a great way to get some exercise and experience some spectacular views of the Coachella valley. People were running the trails and I even saw a few bikers, but the trails are narrow so I would not try that.... More
