If you are staying in Indian Wells or Palm Springs this is a MUST. We left the base of the mountain in blistering heat, and arrived at the top to a climate that any British Person would consider a British Summer temperature. Really comfortable, fresh, breezy. Take good walking shoes or trainers. At the top of Mount San Jacinto, there... More

We have lived here for 17 years and never went up the tram until this week. I was so impressed. This is a must if you are in the area. Bring your hiking shoes. Remember, when its triple digits here in the desert....its about 75 and breezy up the tram.

The 15 minute trip (each way) is in a rotating tram so the view covers everything. Be aware that there are no seats and few hand rails, so you need to be steady on your feet. Have your camera ready for all the great sights. At the top there are miles of trails to wander. There are places to purchase... More

The vista is amazing. One can see for miles from the tram. It is a narrated, informative ride up the mountain to an Alpine setting. Beautiful place to day hike (walk) or bird-watch. (If planning to hike, bring your own water). If not planning to go into the trees or hike, the tram is still certainly worth riding to look... More

This was a little crowded, 80 people per trip, but well worth the trip. Beautiful scenery, exciting ascent, and descent.

We visited over Thanksgiving and found the tram to be a great way to spend a half day. I would go early since it is less crowded. We found the top to be quite cool with a 30 degree drop in temperature. Bring a jacket or fleece. The views are interesting and pack a lunch as they have many areas... More

A nice trip to the top of the mountain, where you can find some fresh air and some interesting trekking paths full of little animals to watch.

We loved the Tramway because it offered hiking and a cooler environment. It was stunningly beautiful and even our teens (two 15 year olds and two 17 year olds) enjoyed the views and the hiking. It is worth the money, but I wish I had found some coupons -- which I hear are available if you google :D

Even though it can be expensive for a family to get up the tram, this really is a highlight activity in the area. Camping on the mountain is recommended... A 3 mile walk from the tram and you're in a great area. Bring a water filter! Even if you don't camp, it's a recommended trip, but at least check the... More

A unique experience--in 10 minutes, you're a world away! The summit is about 30 degrees cooler, so dress accordingly. I have a feeling they sell a lot of sweatshirts at the top!
