We have purchased a vacation home here in Palm Springs. The San Jacinto Mountain Range is so beautiful. Everywhere you go in town the mountains can be seen, and at different times of the day they take on a different look. Today, it was 67 degrees in town and I could see snow blowing at the top of the mountain.... More

First trip to Palm Springs and I heard great things about this particular activity . You can spend an entire day taking the tram ride up and once at the top of the mountain you can enjoy two restaurants, numerous hiking trails with gorgeous scenic views, gift shop for souvenirs, and plenty of platforms for relaxation as you admire mountains.... We took the rotating tram ride to the top and I thought that was the coolest thing ever, then we got to the top and the views are just breath taking, we hiked one of the trails and again was not disappointed. Some of the tree up there are just massive. Be prepared we went first thing in the morning... More

We took the tram up the mountain and did some hiking. The ranger suggested we check out all the notches on the map if we wanted some excellent views. So glad we followed his advice, it was beautiful!!!!

If you're visiting Palm Springs you have to take at least a couple of hours to take the tram and enjoy the views. If you have more time, take a hike through the beautiful park and enjoy the day. You also have to get the fudge at the cafe!

The gondola ride to the top of the mountain is a bit pricey at $26.99 per person; however, the experience in the rotating gondola is worth the price and all the way to the top !! There is a small facilities area with food at the top of the mountain and great vistas for photography in the Eastward direction. Afternoons... More

A must do when in Palm Springs! Weather at the top so much cooler than the valley. Great trails, views, and ride to the top via tram.

I almost didn't hike up San Jacinto because I was completely maxed out on desert hiking (Joshua Tree, Indian Canyons, Escalante, Arches, Sedona, etc) and as I started hiking on the trail I was pumped!! So glad I took this hike because the pine trees and the whole area is just beautiful! I took the aerial tram (very neat) to... More

The views at the end of this almost 6 mile (round trip) hike are worth the effort to get there. You can see deserts, valleys, and mountains as you sit and rest on the boulders. We started from the tramway and walked the lower loop (1.7 miles) of Long Valley to the trail sign for the divide. From there we... More
