My girlfriend and I were wine tasting in Paso Robles and were told to check out Dark Star. Im glad we did. It was a rainy day in Paso, not much going on. As we walked into the winery and sat at the bar nobody else was in sight. We quickly met Paul who would take us through our tour... More

Paul is a kind, generous and knowledgeable host. Wines are delicious and we were even given tacos to snack on free of charge. Only estate that stays open late (until 7). An absolute must, make sure you stop in!

I like all of the wines at Dark Star which is really telling. I don't usually say that at most wineries. Mike and Mike are relatively new owners with expansion plans. They already have opened the winery more hours and have a lovely spot out in front for music and relaxing dining. They don't rush you and are very knowledgable.... More

Dark Star is a must for any wine tour of Paso Robles. They can easily compete with anything you will find in Sonoma. The winery and tasting room is beautiful, there is a shop for things to buy, and a long and beautiful bar for your tasting. The owners are often there. The people serving you know everything about their... More

We stumbled on Dark Star during a recent trip, and absolutely loved the place. Go for the Ricordati (Boudreaux blend via the Central Coast), or the Left Turn. We bought a case of cab to sit down in our cellar, and don't know if it will last-it's totally yummy now. Love this place

Having been to many vineyards, wineries, and tasting cellars over the years, I have found that my most memorable experiences have been about more than just the wine. That is not to say the quality of the wine doesn't matter, drinking great wine is always a fond memory in and of itself, but certain places stand out as bringing more... More

We stopped by Dark Star on our recent trip to Paso Robles. We loved all of the Dark Star wines, so much that we joined their wine club. They have complex, food friendly red blends. Their wines were some of the best values we found on the trip. They also allowed our dogs to accompany us into the tasting room.... More

We've been wine club members for years, but just now actually made our way out to Paso Robles and Dark Star was a must stop. This is a family run vineyard. That's obvious as soon as you pull up. After interactions by e-mail and phone for several years, it was great to meet Norm and Susan Benson. They were very... More

We have been club members for years after stumbling on a bottle of Dark Star in Atlanta (from back when it was distributed in more states than it is now), and were finally able to come to see where the magic happens. Husband even finagled a tour out of Norm-what a treat! The blends here are the best-I'm a fan... More

I am a wine club member here. Susan, who runs the tasting room is amazing and so friendly. They have several good reds but my favorites are the blends, especially the Ricordati. If you get to meet the winemaker, Norm, that is a real treat. He is awesome.
