We were going to lunch at Roy's so on the way there we drove and saw the Restless Sea. This is a pretty area by the bay. This was on Labor day week-end and the drive was closed to tourists, so there was not a lot of people there this time. There were some riding bikes and a few like us going to a destination.
When the parking lot is open, we usually spend more time there.

Restless Sea is the 4th stop in 17-Mile Drive. As the name suggests, the sea is very turbulent at this point and the roaring waves approaching the shore are making rhythmic pleasant sounds. You can spend a long time here just listening to the ocean, the wind and watching the ferocity of the waves. Waves here constantly converge and crash into each other, may be due to rocks beneath and making running rhythms.

I challenge anyone to sit for a while looking at this view and not feel their blood pressure lower and tranquility sneak in. Watching and listening to the ocean is one of life’s pleasures.

We returned on a lovely warm November day to drive 17 mile drive. We stopped to see the Restless Sea exhibit. The Pacific Ocean views are breathtaking.

The sea was really restless during our visit with the wind making the waves go farther and bigger when splashing with the rocks. Beautiful site to look at.

Seventeen Mile Drive offers some enjoyable stops and Restless Sea, Stop #4 is a good one. At this point the ocean provides some crashing waves that provide a wonderful view. Keep you eyes peeled for wildlife and relax.

Restless Sea is the attraction place and it is Point No4 in the 17 mile drive. In this spot, sea is very turbulent and noise is heavy.

Beautiful stop along the 17-mile drive. Our whole family enjoyed this stop. It was very windy and cool, but sunny and beautiful.

Two currents in the ocean pick this spot to come together and churn things up. On a big surf day this can be quite impressive. It’s conveniently located next to Joe Point, so you can get a twofer.

As the turbulence pushing the ocean waves, the waves converging and crashing into each other to have a beautiful ocean scene. Surprisingly, a seal was in the water, up and down, joyfully playing in the water. Also some birds rested on a rock to make a natural view even better.
