Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Crocker Grove is the 11th stop on the 17-Mile Drive. As you start moving uphill from sea shore, one can find largest and oldest Monterey Cypress trees of the World all around. Some of these trees are 300 years old. It is named after Charles Crocker, the railroad baron responsible for building the luxurious Hotel Del Monte in Monterey, as well as the original 17-Mile Drive in 1881.

This was stop 11 on our 17 mile drive tour.
There was a very small dirt parking lot right along the street with two other parked cars but I was the only one to exit the car.
A fence blocked access to the grove so the only thing to do was to look from a short distance away and gaze upwards at the collection of tall Monterey Cypress trees. A small brick marker was the only other item to see.
Based on the above one can see everything just by slowly driving by. No need to get out unless you want to stretch your legs and breathe in some fresh air.

We were hoping to be able to hike among the trees, but this stop is just for gazing up at the ancient trees and being grateful that they were saved from development.

This stop is just ok for me and my wife. Plenty of trees around. We live near Sequoia National Parka nd this stop reminded us of that. The trees were smaller than the sequoias that we've seen.

For once on the 17-mile drive the interesting view isn't out to sea but a great view of the Coast heading towards Carmel.

Crocker Grove is stop #11 along 17-Mile Drive and is home to the oldest and largest Monterey Cypress trees in one of only two remaining stands in the world; the other is located in nearby Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. While we found the stand in Point Lobos to be more picturesque, this stop is still worth at least a short visit to see the largest specimens of these rare plants.
