Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Cypress Point Golf Club is a magnificant venue that emcompasses what all of the Montery courses have to offer. The club house is surprisingly modest, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The caddies are knowlegable veterans that know the course inside and out. The holes vary from rolling links to long par 5's through the evergreens, to the ocean side finishing holes. It is difficult in the wind, but very playable. There aren't any gimics to increase the difficulty. Holes 14-17 are the most beautiful holes that any could ever play. Hole 15, 115 par 3, is the most breathtaking. A birdie or par is easy given you are hitting away from the ocean. You leave this hole feeling great about your game until you step on to the 16th tee only to be overcome with serinity and dread at the same time. A daunting 220 yard par 3, you must hit over the ocean to an elevated green or lay up on the only fairway I've ever seen on a par 3, which is what I did after I hit 2 in the ocean.
Unlike the other coureses in 17 mile drive that have groups going off every 10-15 from sunrise till dusk, you might only see one other group on the course at Cypress. The experience is on that any golfer will cherishs should they get the chance to play. I look forward to doing it again, but if I don't I'll never forget rounds I played.

What other course can induce excitement, nervousness, exhiliration and nausua all before your first swing.....then force you to carry the tee shot over shrubs, Mercedes, Range Rovers and other vehicles passing by on the 17 mile drive. Shaking, I punch my tee into the grass and take aim. Cypress.... Only playable by invitation, I feel blessed to be in this position. You almost want to leap the forest holes and jump immediately to the famously photographed 15th and 16th, but doing so robs you of the experience. This course gives the average player a chance; If you seize it, you're rewarded; you miss, it can punish you. No matter how you play, you'll never forget your round here. This is a shrine.

No need to go into a long one here. With out doubt one of the best courses I have played in the world. The place is welcoming once you have a tee time set up. The staff are awesome and the prices in the shop are very reasonably. Our caddie was awesome. Can't wait for the invite back. Cypress is one the courses it is hard to sleep the night before "kid in a candy store" a true gem. A unique haven of the game.

I've heard/read this is even more sublime than Pebble Beach. I've got a friend that is "connected" in golfing circles and he laughed @ me when I asked him to get me on CP. I've got another friend that knows Condi Rice and he also laughed @ me when I asked him to get me on Augusta. So my life is a shambles and I can't tell you anything @ all about 2 of the greatest (apparently?) courses in America because I can't get on them. I did drive by the entrance to CP and it looked very nice.

Anyone that is invited to play Cypress is extremely lucky! It is as good as golf can be anywhere, and i have played many great courses in this area, as well as Ireland and Scotland. the weather was perfect at 72 degrees, little wind, and blue sky. The caddies were very helpful on a course in perfect condition. I will never forget this day and round.

Playing Cypress Point was nothing short of a dream come true for me having played St. Andrews and Pebble Beach. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to play there along side my fellow employees from Pasatiempo Golf Club (another MacKenzie course built right after he completed Cypress just North of Monterey).
I may not have played as well as I would have liked, but given the surroundings and the history of such a marvelous piece of golf lore, just walking the fairways and limiting myself to 2 three putts, I was in heaven. Number 15 and 16 are a sight to behold and gave me goose bumps.
So, if you are ever invited and have the opportunity, don't pass it up! And should you get to the area and can't get on at Cypress, go to Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz for a taste of Dr. MacKenzie's magic, you will not be disappointed!

As a guest at Cypress you are treated as if you are a member, except you cant use the driving range. There were 20 people playing all day the day we played.
The course is beyond spectacular, and should you be lucky enough to get an invitation, don't hesitate to buy the ticket to get their.
Holes 15, 16, and 17 are 3 of the truly most beautiful golf hole in the world. The only surprise is how modest the clubhouse and locker area is, but with the highly restricted membership I guess its no surprise

We were riding bikes along 17 Mile Drive & were therefore able to really see the beautiful scenery that makes up Cypress Point Golf Club. The cypress trees and the bright green grass against the blue sky are gorgeous. We road past the course twice, but only saw one worker & a few deer munching on the course's grass (so that's their secret!).

You have a better chance of getting on at Augusta than you do getting a tee time at Cypress Point.
