If you are traveling on Highway 1 this is worth a stop. The lighthouse itself is closed for renovations but the Fresnel light is on display. The views along the coast are amazing. There is no charge for visiting.

What a lesson in history at this lighthouse. She may be a bit worn but still has a big presence. The volunteers were all friendly & willing to answer any questions. There is no charge to visit but donations to the restoration are appreciated. There...More

My wife and I each visited here in sixth grade science camp, so it was fun to return a few years later (!!). The more than century-old lighthouse has an interesting history with an amazing lens on display in an adjoining building (the lighthouse itself...More

The lighthouse is small and the interior is closed to the public, but the lens is on display in a building near by and is quite interesting. There are some good areas for photography and a staffed parks center. Plenty of parking. The nearby loo reeks.

Pigeon Point is a very small historic park, but we loved it so much we decided to spend the night at the adjoining Hostel that use to be coast guard barracks. The 1870's style American light-house itself is closed as it is deteriorating, but we...More

Take a relaxing drive up HWY 1 beyond Santa Cruz. The road leads to many beaches and points of interest. The lighthouse is one along the way. Great for pictures especially on a sunny day.

Lovely views and interesting history at the Pigeon Point lighthouse. Plenty free parking and rest rooms. What this place really needs is some sort of cafe. The area was busy with visitors, many of whom I'm sure would be keen for a coffee or sandwich....More

Just stopped as we were traveling up the coast. Great views of a beautiful area, coast line and the Pacific.

Definitely worth a side trip if you're on the PCH or nearby. Visit before sunset for great lighting and a classy sunset.

The lighthouse was fenced off, so no. You can get close enough for a good photograph. The light lens is on display in a separate building with lots of information, and staff to answer questions.

Actually, I would recommend that you have a flashlight. There are lights around, but not a sufficient amount to really light up the area.

Unfortunately, there is no public transportation to Pigeon Point from anywhere. If you are in one of the cities on the peninsula or in South Bay, the best way to get there is probably to HWY 92 to Halfmoon Bay, and then... More
