My friend nd I wanted to go to Scharffenberger because my Niece had brought me a bottle last time she visited me from Northern Calif. We loved the place and the Lady serving us. I like that they will re-imburse your $10 tasting fee for purchase which I gladly did. The $10 fee is small by comparison to what other Wineries are charging. I love the Brut Rose and highly recommend you try this Champs House.…

After a visit to Roederer, (mother winery up the hill) which is lovely, but a bit pretentious, we thoroughly enjoyed our tasting at Scharffenberger. Tasting is waived if you do some purchasing. We tasted several and found purchasing some available only here as the way to go. Enjoy.

We learned about this place while we were tasting at Roederer because they are owned by the same entity. They also make sparkling wines, but have a slightly different style than Roederer -- lower acid and less yeasty. The sparkling wines are probably a slightly better value than Roederer. Even the large-format bottles are very reasonable and tasting fees are waived with any purchase. The tastings are done at an indoor bar but they have a porch to enjoy the wines outside.…

First visit for us and it won't be our last-- the 4 of us had such a great time tasting many great sparkling wines, at an extremely reasonable price of $6. The woman pouring (apologies for not getting her name) was so fun, generous and knowledgeable, which made the experience so much more enjoyable. Be sure to check out--and buy--the logo t-shirt too! The tasting concluded with red wine and chocolate-- what a treat.…
