Black Chasm was named a National Natural Landmark in 1976 by the National Park Service for its outstanding displays of rare helictite formations. The 50-minute guided walking tour descends a series of stairs and walkways that loop around the formation covered caverns walls. Here, flowstones interspersed with stalactites, draperies and helictites compete for space above the stairways. Above ground activities: gemstone mining, nature hike, picnic tables. School program available. Open every day, year round.

Really enjoyed seeing this cave. It's a cave I've returned to visit several times. I live in this area and whenever we have visitors from out of town, this is one of the sites we take people. It's rarely crowded and the owners are great. Very helpful in describing all the rock formations. Don't forget to bring a jacket because... More

This is one stop you have to make with the family. Set in a remote area, the scenery surrounding the caverns are beautiful with trails available for hiking as well. The tickets are purchased in the gift shop which has a nice assortment of geological knick knacks for purchase. The tour leaders are young and clearly enjoy giving tours. We... More

The tour guide was very good and knowledgeable about the history or this cave and area. I was surprised that they had a nice store and sitting area.

The Cavern is accessed down 165 steps, it is small but worth every penny. Accented by blue marble and wonderful formations we enjoyed out tour. The guides are friendly and informative. We even had our picnic lunch outside under the trees. The gift shop was great too. Senior rates if you ask.

Interesting as an awesome opportunity to see natural features you wouldn't normally see, but to see those things comes at a high cost.

This cavern is nice for it's features. I'm not quite sure if all of the rock formations are real especially when back lighting has been installed. Kinda looks like a set on Universal studios. The tour takes about 30 minutes and mostly listening to the guide during stops and picture taking. Otherwise would've taken 10 minutes. All souvenirs came from... More

Been to several caverns around the world and though this is a smaller one, it is unique in it's own right. Only in this cavern will you find a vegetarian spider. At the lowest level of this cavern is a small lake with a blind shrimp in it also only found in this cavern. The tour is a bit pricey... More
