Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were looking for a place to pull off for a few minutes while driving up the west coast. This park offered a very nice place for short walk with great views of the beach, coast, and Bird Rock.

Nice views from this small coastal park atop the ocean cliffs . You can take short walks from here. Accessed from neighborhood street a bit north of downtown Pismo.

This is a beautiful and accessible stretch of coastline. Less than five minutes from Highway 101, plenty of on street parking. You can walk along the top of the bluffs for about half a mile heading south. We saw dolphins swimming in the water. The path/road then leaves the coast but you should continue walking to admire the exterior of the Chapman Estate, a fine coastal home, now open to the public at certain times of the year. The park itself has ample space and seating and spectacular coastal views. There are stairways down to the beach, I think only one is open now, the others are in need of repair.

Shell Beach is a wonderful throw back in time Cali beach village. This park has wonderful sunsets and is never overcrowded. If you have time go down to the rocky beach at low tide and explore the tidal areas.

Eldwayen Ocean Park is a park with an ocean view that is in the suburbs of the coastal town of Pismo Beach. It does not have equipment for kids to play, it is just beautiful. There are benches for picnic lunch and even a small BBQ.The view is amazing.

The park is above the ocean on a huge bluff, and there are ropes as you get close to the edge. DO NOT go beyond those ropes, if you fall, you are dead and the area does have wee rock falls over those ropes at times. Be smart.

This park does not have its own parking lot, but don't worry there is parking on the street. It is a long park, try to get to the South end where there is a telescope and bench tables for lunch. It is so quiet and peaceful.

There used to be stairs to the beach and they were never that safe in the first place. Erosion has now taken those stairs, but up North end of the park is another staircase to the beach. Be careful. The tide pools at the beach are beautiful, but if you have a hard time walking, don't use the stairs, just enjoy the view.

We stopped here for a walk and the coastline is very nice indeed, helped by moderate temperature and bright sunshine. At the end of the walk one finds the Capman Estate which was donated to the city council by its inhabitant.

When we thought about our trip out West and we saw this beach, this is the California we imagined. It was peaceful. It was private. It was beautiful. We felt so blessed to be here in the winter enjoying this private peaceful ocean experience.

Grab a glass of wine at sunset and enjoy the view from Eldwaylen Ocean Park in Pismo Beach, CA. Whale watching can also be good in February.

Want an "uncrowded" area away from the Pismo Pier craziness? This is it! There is a narrow beach (stairway) which is okay at lower tides. The geology is interesting, as there are NW-trending tilted strata that stick out into the Pacific like ribs. There are a few benches and limited picnic areas. It has the feel of a quiet residential pocket park.
