About
Riverfront Playhouse has been Redding's Community Theatre since 1981. We bring quality live entertainment to the North State with a 150-seat theatre for plays and other performances. We also have a small presentation stage that can accommodate 40-50 patrons for performances. We have the ability as well to rent out areas of the theatre for a variety of purposes such as meetings, conferences, workshops, receptions, movies and more. Our theatre is an opportunity for community-friendly and community-based activities. We provide space to explore, experience and learn all aspects of live theatre. And we provide a service, called Buyouts, to other local nonprofits, which are opportunities to “buy out” one of our performances for a set price and to realize fundraising proceeds for their group.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We all left at halftime along with several other people. Elizabeth didn't even know her lines and was reading from paper. The guys wore skirts, which was a turn off. Couldn't follow anything. Ugh.

This is a hidden treasure for a local playhouse!! The talent is great, the prices are very reasonable, and closing nights they have a nice appetizer bar. They will be moving soon to a larger and much nicer location.

We have really enjoyed the class presentations done by really talented local players over many years. We look forward to the new theater and the continued great playes. This is now a little theater but lots of fun and personal ! Do you and your family and friends a favor and do a play and you will be hooked on local theater !

We have been attending Riverfront Playhouse for 20+ years and I regret whenever we miss one single play. The talent in Redding and environs is truly amazing; this is not the big city, but the drama, comedy, and musical talent in "Superior California" is BIG! What fun to watch neighbors and friends display on the stage their unique abilities and giftedness! Opening and closing nights offer refreshments of appetizers, coffee, sodas, and wine at a slightly higher ticket fee, but it is well worth it. I have a hard time deciding which night to attend. Opening night fills out the audience which encourages the actors, but closing nights we run into friends! Either way this is a great habit to form for lovers of local live theatre. Next up, "Barefoot in The Park!"

This little theater has great productions in a small theater setting. There is seating on two sides with the stage occupying lots of the area in the room. You get a close up view of the performers from where you have seats. My only negative is that there is no place to set a drink or other items at your seat. There also is not much leg room to allow those who enter and exit during the show to pass by. Worth a Friday or Saturday evening.

A nice spot to spend an evening. For a community the size of Redding the talent is often surprisingly good. They are normally best at light comedy.
For the past few years they have been trying to move out of their present cubby-hole location into a larger one. Unfortunately. funding has been a problem.

I so enjoy taking in the performances at Riverfront and strongly urge you to see what great talent we have in the north state. For such a small venue, the stage is always a work of art, and the actors are just as good as you will find in the Sacramento area.

A small venue for plays. There has been tremendous talent in some of the plays. Check out the website to see if a play is currently showing. If you're sure you want to see the play, it is best to purchase tickets ahead of time to be sure to get a seat. Snacks and drinks available at the break (as well as bathrooms).
