Love, love, LOVE my river!

I come back to my hometown of Redding just to be close to the Sacramento river and the lakes. I leave near the ocean, but I prefer the river and lakes.

An elderly woman was beaten & attacked on the Sacramento River Trail in the morning on June 11, 2016. On June 8, 2016, another hiker was held up at gunpoint in the daytime on another local trail. Redding is not safe anymore. Do not use the trails alone. If you decide to come, bring weapons. Sad but true. Leave nothing... More

The Sacramento River offers the best of everything a river should offer. The river has easy access, nice banks, nice for rafting or fishing. It's cool on the river in the 100 degree Redding has in the summer.

My son and I fly fished the Lower Sacramento River with Jack Trout's guide, Forrest, in late spring. Expectations were high following all that we'd heard about the Lower Sac and the big rainbows consistently being caught there. We were not disappointed--Forrest gave awesome coaching all day on technique, and a ton of information on conditions, interpreting the river dynamics... More

Fly fish here for a day, or several. A good guide and a float trip is always outstanding! This is one of the best fisheries for Rainbow trout anywhere.

Some of the best fly fishing for trout anyplace is the Sac. You can drift with a guide, which invariably results in catching a number of large trout, or wade the river.

Upper Sac River is scenic. Weather your are sight seeing, bird watching, a boater , or fisherman , you'll enjoy the beauty of this part of the river. Camping and motels are nearby. Major shopping in abundant.

Enjoyed viewing the river especially by Sundial Bridge, watching the fishermen and the geese. Worth a look

I live close to the river. You fish or hire a fishing boat company and have a blast on the river. There are trails and beautiful parks and camp grounds along the river in Red Bluff ca. Red Bluff is a quaint little sweet historical town and also has the Rodeo big time at certain times of the year. Go... More

The river is beautiful and has wonderful walking trails. A great place to just hang out by the river is at the Sundial Bridge.
