About
When Tony and Herta "H.B." Peju relocated to Rutherford from Los Angeles 40 years ago, they brought with them a vision of building a winery, an unwavering work ethic, and two young daughters who soaked in the couple's entrepreneurial spirit and love for Napa's beautiful farmland. They established Peju Winery and dedicated themselves to welcoming guests and to crafting exceptional wines from their organically farmed estate vineyard. Still family-owned and operated today, Peju Winery has transformed over the past 40 years from a simple grape-growing venture into a landmark winery celebrated for elegant, complex, and balanced wines in the classic Bordeaux varieties.

    Great intro to Napa
Had a great time at the winery. The classic seated tasting had great variations in wine. The property is stunning and there was free EV charging. Claudy was charming and gave us a great preview of each wine. A nice place to sit and relax.
Sandie, thank you for sharing your wonderful experience at PEJU! We are delighted to hear that you had a great time during your visit and that you enjoyed our tasting. We will be sure to pass on your compliments to Claudy! Thank you once again for choosing PEJU and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back!

    Beautiful Grounds-Wonderful Tasting
We drink the cabaret at home and were delighted to find Peju bottles a wide range of varietals that are not distributed. Kate was our sommelier and guides through a fun and educational tasting…she knows her business and made it fun. Hubby and I shared a tasting-cuts down on both the cost and the amount of wine over the afternoon of tasting. We picked up three bottles which offset the cost of the tasting. Peju has a lovely gift shop with some mustards, jellies and flavored salts as well as wine-related items. The grounds are beautifully manicured-loved the koi pond!
Cheers, thank you for the lovely review!

    Great tasting $40
Happened upon this place as read did walk-ins - really welcoming staff and got a counter tasting for $40. The tasting room is beautiful and our host was fantastic and enthusiastic. Ended up trying 6 wines (billed as 4) and I’ll be honest had no intention of buying and didn’t feel pressured into doing so.
Allison, thank you for the review! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the Counter Tasting. Hope to see you at the winery again soon!

    Best Cabernet Franc
We were able to get a tasting without reservations; we thought the tasting was $40 per person but we were not given the option but instead seated in the tasting room where the tasting is $60 per person. The Cabernet Franc made it worthwhile. One tasting fee is waived with the purchase of three bottles (believe the Cabernet Franc was $80/bottle. If you want food with your tasting, they offer a small cheese plate for $30. The gift shop is stunning with an amazing stained glass window.

I am a Peju wine club member, so was looking forward to this visit. The staff is always very welcoming and friendly. The property is very beautiful. We paid for a private tasting for 8 of us (4 were free since I was a wine club member) and thought the tasting would be private. The seating was not very comfortable since some of our guests in our group were seniors, and had a hard time getting onto and sitting on bar stools. There was another party in the same room, and our host's time was split between both groups. I thought the tasting would be private, but it was not.

I joined Peju simply from word of mouth recommendation. I scheduled a tasting there with my whole family, and we liked none of the wines. Nonetheless, I thought I’d take home at least one shipment to give it a real fair shot, and I liked none of those wines either. It’s rare when not a single line appeals to me. Still, no problem… Not everyone likes all wines. It just wasn’t a good fit for my palate. However, when I called to cancel they made me feel as though I was trying to get away with something, like the only reason I joined was to get free tastings and discounted wines. They threatened to charge me for all the tastings and the increased wine prices if they canceled my membership. Seems pretty hard-core to me for someone who really tried to give it a fair shot. OK, fine it’s a one year membership, so I’m stuck, but that does not mean their wines are any good, and that they couldn’t have been more flexible. Definitely way better (and more flexible) wineries out there.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful winery & vineyard located in the heart of Napa Valley! From the stylish entry through the reception and gift shop area into the beautiful stained glass tasting rooms we felt welcome and at ease, as if we were gathered with friends for a delicious tasting experience. The wine steward was friendly and informative. Peju was one of our favorite experiences while visiting beautiful Napa Valley.

This is more like 2.5 stars based on the experience. My boyfriend and I like Peju wine which we first experienced all the way in Maui, Hawaii. So we were really looking forward to this tasting, but our tasting experience was not good. Our host was not good. She had only worked there 6 months and had no knowledge about the wine or the history and provided no suggestions or recommendations for our taste palate. We felt really rushed and she kept pouring glass after glass. I couldn’t enjoy the wine and lost track of what I was drinking. We visited 7 wineries while visiting Napa and this was our least favorite.

Great wine and personal service. Bottle prices range between $30-$80 but it’s hard to find their wine for sale outside of the winery. One of the few places we became club members while visiting Napa.

This is one of the wineries that the three of us were really looking forward to. The property itself is gorgeous with an absolutely stunning stained glass window upon entry. The grounds are beautifully manicured.
We did a seated tasting in the tasting room which was $60 per person. We did this at the end of the day, and it seemed that our host was tired and ready to be done. He told us what we were drinking and walked away. We didn’t feel that welcome or that he was really interested in any questions that we had. We did buy a case of wine and our tastings were comped here. There is a cute little gift shop. Make sure when you visit that you take some time to look around the beautiful outdoor spaces. I likely won’t return.

Peju Winery is a small family winery but substantial in the way you come away with feeling a connection. Their wine is master-class all the way from their award winning Cab Francs to their understated table wine 'Province'. Peju Winery's Colombard 'Carnival' is great for weekend picnics or having friends over for any occasion (when it's available). You can't call a trip to Napa Valley complete without stopping by for a tasting and a photo op next to their iconic tower and front door. Two "thumbs up"!

We’ve actually visited here twice, and both times were not pleased with the service. The only reason we’re giving it 2 out of 5 is because the grounds are beautiful and some of the wine is good.

Our most recent experience was one that we had booked tastings with existing members. One tasting included food, and was for two people, the other was for wine only and for two people. We’d planned on the guys doing the food and wine pairing, while the ladies were going to just do the wine. Despite the tasting areas being outside and right next to each other, they refused to let us be seated together. So we had to forgo the food pairing just so that we could all sit together. And they did not show any remorse or care for the inconvenience. Meanwhile, and keep in mind, this is in July during the pandemic, they have full bridal parties coming in, no one was wearing masks... it was a hot mess, and the staff didn’t care. Then we go to leave and ask for our wine pickup, only to find that they couldn’t find it, and later found out they had given it away to someone else... ummm, how’s that possible considering ID is required to confirm your pickup?

All in all, we’ll never go here again. There are SO many other wineries with better wine and SIGNIFICANTLY better service. Try Davis Estates, B.R. Cohn, Alpha & Omega, VGS, B Cellars, MacRostie, or Merryvale.

The winery is picturesque, but we were disappointed as a large group to be charged for almost all our tastings despite purchasing 2 cases as a group. (For reference, other wineries generally waive a tasting fee with 2-3 bottles purchased.) In addition, we asked for crackers to used as a palate cleanser. The brochure shows charcuterie plate for group tastings. We got a tray of crackers—and were charged $75. I could’ve purchased all the crackers we were provided for less than $5 and are contesting it with Peju. This felt more like a money grab and less about the experience. Wine: 3.5 stars. Experience: 1 star
